The article is interesting, but I've never heard of a theory that suggests that all Myceneans would have been from the north. Quite long ago, 30 plus years or so, I recall reading that the original populations of the Aegean would have been descended from the Neolithic farmers and that they would have been taken over by an Indo-European -Hellenic branch- elite arriving from the north east. These people with domesticated horses and chariots would have then imposed their language on the natives. Eventually they would merge together into the Greeks of Classical Antiquity down to modern times. |
