A friend sent me this post about rolling dice types.
Pretty funny.

Pretty good, although I can't agree to the D6 only statement. D10, 12, and 20 are obviously superior.

Sounds like you're not playing with real buddies.

Good comedy is connected to truths about lived experience, and that article was speaking the truth!

I've had a guy in my games that would roll about half his dice and if they looked good he would roll the other half away from them, if they looked bad he would roll the other half straight into them to "adjust" the outcome.

I would also add the constant roller. He rolls his dice all the time and then when called upon to roll them for real he may just "claim" his last fake roll if it was a good one.

With systems where you have to roll a series of dice (hit, penetrate, damage, for example), it's very useful to have 3 or more colors, have them always pre-designated, and roll all of them at once. It saves far more time than you would imagine.

So, I don't agree with the "only two colors!" madness.

I think emckinney's right. The poster plays a limited number of rules. We always kept multiple colors of D6's available in CLS, for instance, for unmodified, understrength firing units, and units with voley fire bonuses. Mind you, I'd agree that most of my "custom dice" are sheer self-indulgence. It doesn't stop me, but I agree.

Had a " bartender " once that almost made me quit gaming.

I chuckled all the way through this. Then I thought, I should post this at the local gaming store.
