How can one do the War of 1812 and not have rockets!!!!

Here is my rocket battery crewed by the Royal Marine artillery during the Niagara campaign 1814. Rockets by Old Glory, crew are Knuckleduster miniatures Royal Artillery crew suitably painted.

Officer looking up at rockets appears to be saying;

"once the rockets are up, who cares where they come down?
That's not my department…."

Except that the artillery, and not the naval, rockets had a reputation for having a boomerang effect when fired and turning around in flight and finding their point of origin…
