Just about ready to release these. First ten models from my new space fighter lineup. These are specifically compatible with the 51/50 rules, but can be used with any system.

Cast metal. I have ten more ships I'm currently creating, and there will also be large "Cruisers" cast in resin eventually.

Scale with Xwing:

No website yet, but you can PM me if interested.

Very nice

Those look great!

Captain Gideon02 Aug 2017 1:32 p.m. PST

They look pretty good but I've no interest.

Atoric02 Aug 2017 2:18 p.m. PST

Nice looking lineup!

TheBeast Supporting Member of TMP02 Aug 2017 2:41 p.m. PST

Been following these on LAF, and I'm starting to think I need to pick up a few to compare with the Star Crush I've got.

By the way, we CAN'T PM; TMP requires paid membership for that.

Hi Deldietch,

Fantastic looking ships. They have a really nice unity so that they look like they are from the same story setting.Would like to know your background story for theses. Are some Terran and others alien or do you have your own take on which are on which side?

deldietch03 Aug 2017 3:28 p.m. PST

Some Previews of todays sketch session for Wave II

deldietch03 Aug 2017 3:37 p.m. PST

Kropotkin303 –

The species are Terran, Reptilian, Human Clone Cousins, and a few totally alien.
But, players can use these for whatever they want.

As it happens, I have a number of short stories on the pilots , specifically starting with the ship in the upper left corner. These will be combined with scenarios and specific stat cards to use in the "51/50" game fighter combat.

Preview:

The name Glen Hughes should sound familiar to everyone. He was the first pilot to successfully come out of the cryofreeze program from 22nd century, when the Gaean home world, Earth, was under threat from its own inhabitants. It was widely believed that inevitable war would devastate the population and governments from all over the globe looked for volunteers to freeze themselves. The program was designed to insure accurate information was passed on to future, post war, generations if there ever were any. It was one of the only joint ventures between nations on the Earth at that time.

It's common knowledge now an open visit from the Reptilian race radically changed the situation on Earth. The fact that other, superior, lifeforms existed and were now visiting us saved us from ourselves. The reptilians had been monitoring us for thousands of years. They would have continued if the situation hadn't become apparently we were bent on our own destruction. Thankfully they stepped in.

Hughes was the first Human Space defense pilots and was integral in establishing the methodology of the Gaean deep space defense system. This is his story of first contact with the Zhuh Zhuh race.

Rather impressed with these fighters, and definitely in the market.

Just one problem – your link is broken deldietch :)

These are beauties! Any chance you'll ever issue smaller "1 inch scale" versions for those of us who play Silent Death and other systems calling for less Brobdinagian displays of interstellar mayhem?evil grin

Hey Leland,

I'd be happy to discuss doing these in 1 inch sizes, or getting the masters printed and partnering with someone willing to cast and sell them.

I'm back to my "ship-a-day" sketch sessions, which usually end up with printable files. So there will be plenty of ships to look at doing.

Last nights sketch sessions below:

deldietch14 Aug 2017 1:38 p.m. PST

Wave II is ready to print.

Trying ti get some feedback on also doing these in 1 inch sizes. Wave 1 and wave 2 are currently 2 inch. I can also do some of these in 1 inch if there is interest.

nukesnipe15 Aug 2017 5:20 a.m. PST

My wallet just went into hiding….

emckinney15 Aug 2017 10:01 a.m. PST

What are the prices like?

Some of these I would use as ships (as opposed to fighters), except that the cockpits are too prominent and modifying them would be way too much work …

boy wundyr x15 Aug 2017 12:41 p.m. PST

Re: Size Feedback – I really like these ships, and I have a ton of 1" fighters from different sources (Silent Death, Studio Bergstrom, Reverisco) but also the Crucible Crush ships and a few others in straight up 1/270(-ish).

So this is a bit of a waffle, but I'd like to see the 1" ships too. I'd buy some if 1/270 was the only option, and even if both sizes were done I'd buy some 1/270 for use with my other ships in that range. But I'd buy everything in 1", in closer to squadron strengths, rather than flight/section strengths for 1/270.

deldietch15 Aug 2017 3:29 p.m. PST

None of the ships are over $5. USD The cockpits are also easy enough to removed with a knife and sanding stick. Depending on the order (and because it's so early in this project) I can probably mod a few if you like.

Price list available on request. It's taking me time to build the website as I'm waiting for some other deals to fall into place…specifically pricing on the 5150 Aces high rules,

Well, if you actually had those two in one inch, and not just place holders, I'm going to assume 'sold out' already is enough feedback on the size 'interest'. ;->=

Well done!

Doug

deldietch22 Aug 2017 10:11 p.m. PST

Another new sketch. The one is influenced by the F-86 Sabre fighters.

I might print out one of these in 15mm too.

BlackWidowPilot Fezian23 Aug 2017 9:28 a.m. PST

I love it! Very retro 60s Japanese sci-fi! Now all you need is an X-15 turned space fighter ala Battle in Outer Space…evil grin

BTW, you're welcome to raid my sketchbook of unused Silent Death fighter designs any time for ideas to keep fueling your madness… evil grin

More sketches!

Fine tuned the "saber" a bit

I've started sculpting the wings differently in Zbrush, adding panel lines and angles as I go. This should add some detail to any ships for Wave3 that use wings.

I've also started to do larger Gunships, that would have optional weapon pods and mounts. Nothing final yet, but again, experimenting with building the ships in sections to allow the "panel" lines to stand out.

And, per Lelands request i sketched out a X-15 inspired ship this morning.

BlackWidowPilot Fezian29 Aug 2017 11:33 a.m. PST

LOVE the X-15ish design! Just needs some visible cannon blast slots and a set of outrigger teardrop thruster pods and we're ready to blast the Mysterions to atoms!evil grin

Oh, and an observation about your gunships… from an esthetic and practical point of view, perhaps you could render the gun turrets ala the streamlined flatened teardrop pattern of the WW2 Northrop P-61 Black Widow? You'd have a clearly higher gun elevation and with the added advantage of a turret that is clearly more aerodynamic:

Just a crazy thought… evil grin

I do have different turrets ;-)

My thought on the larger ships is to provide a sprue of weapons systems, and have little sections they can glue onto with a ball joint or peg.

BlackWidowPilot Fezian03 Sep 2017 10:45 a.m. PST

A sprue of weapon systems? Evil heart and deranged mind be still!evil grin

See? 'Evil' and 'deranged' damn near 'evil, maniacal.'

Anyway, the ones with the slight retro aspect are firing up my Hard Vacuum vibes!

What am I saying? 'Must clear lead pile, must clear lead pile…'

Well, a TASTE wouldn't hurt, would it?

Doug

Edit: Damn golden ages…

deldietch04 Sep 2017 2:43 p.m. PST

more Evil. I now have 4 solid turret designs set. The resin for the kits will be the same I have on the Company B E50M and newer sets. So it's possible I can create the turrets to just pop into the holes and still swivel. I'll need to experiment.

Turrets: I plan to have 4 base designs with three weapon variants of each turret (two turret designs shown)

And another large ship sketch, showing the turrets. This beast may make production after some more tweaks.

A taste would be appreciated ;-) I will have substantial mold costs initially on these larger ships!

The weapon turrets alone would be fantastic for kitbashing and terrain projects…

The big dawg looks impressive and with an appropriate aura of bad attitude…

Any chance you'll make some triple, quad, quintuple, and sextuplets gun turrets?

@deldietch,

dat ain't no cruiser… dat's a Warhound (Silent Death escort class vessel) in the making… the bridge windows and number of weapon systems and their sizes in evidence all point my beady oculars in that direction… love it. evil grin

Excellent!

Good timing as I've been experimenting with other techniques. For the heavy ships, I think they will require a lot more detail. I'm doing more traditional CAD surfacing instead of the digital clay sculpting technique on the fighters.

Painted samples from wave II. I've added the decals to these as well so you can see how they look.

"Anyway, the ones with the slight retro aspect are firing up my Hard Vacuum vibes!"

Ah, Beast! I would love to see a revival of that game with updated models.

TheBeast Supporting Member of TMP17 Sep 2017 6:38 p.m. PST

Yes, one of my many 'now that I'm retired' much desired replays.

Of course, 'now that I'm retired', getting derriere in gear has become the real issue. ;->=

Rich load of possibilities amongst Silent Death already, of course, but this is pushing me pretty hard.

Sadly, the last large ship begs me to consider converting to Aeronef/Imperial Skies. Somebody stop me!
