Are you done with zombie gaming? |
Stryderg | 01 Aug 2017 12:22 p.m. PST |
They're just lulling you into a false sense of security. |
Rich Bliss | 01 Aug 2017 12:36 p.m. PST |
I never started. Zero interest. |
nnascati | 01 Aug 2017 12:39 p.m. PST |
Not entirely, but I think they are being pushed aside by these Weird Everything games. |
Ed Mohrmann | 01 Aug 2017 12:52 p.m. PST |
like Rich B., I never started… |
The Beast Rampant | 01 Aug 2017 1:09 p.m. PST |
Also never started. I find certain elements interesting, but it was WAY down the list of things I wanted to game. |
Winston Smith | 01 Aug 2017 1:48 p.m. PST |
Are Pirates? Are FIW skirmish games? |
robert piepenbrink | 01 Aug 2017 1:54 p.m. PST |
Never started. No pirates, either. No vampires. No robots, giant or otherwise. No steam-propelled tanks. Only a smallish HOTT skeleton army. If people want me to be fashionable, they're going to have to notify me at least two years ahead of the trend. |

I hope so. That way I can play some real voudon zombies! Note: I like the modern take on zeds, but I miss the opportunity to play other types of "classical" (I guess) undead. |

They will always be a staple of fantasy gaming. As far as post ap, I think the market is flooded I know my closet is! Survivors are still in demand I would think. I would say for the genre, vehicles, bikers and marauders would be good still. Like everything non combatants are rare. Maybe hordes of terrified running people. They could be used in a Godzilla game, too. |

A good zombie game isn't about zombies, it's about the survivors (players) and how they interact or don't. In all the All Things Zombies game I've run at conventions (literally over 100), 90% of the players were killed by survivors. After 12 years still have full sign up sheets and write ins wanting to get into the game. Biggest games were at Historicon and averaged 10+ gamers. And yes, the market is flooded. But sales are still good. Origins Award Winner 2005 |

Bill, Lol. You should have worded the title more like "Is Zombie Gaming Dead?" I never even tried the zombie thing, though I did consider it once, for about 1.025 seconds. :) Is it winding down because many have lost interest in The Walking Dead series? Dan |
Sobieski | 01 Aug 2017 4:41 p.m. PST |
iZombie has raised the level of what we expect of zombie entertainment, that's all. |
Piquet Rules | 01 Aug 2017 4:46 p.m. PST |
I never found zombies as a game "period" to be attractive. I could never find accurate uniform information, or orders of battle. |
shelldrake | 01 Aug 2017 6:25 p.m. PST |
Nope – about to play a 28mm game followed by a 15mm game of zombies |
Grimmnar | 01 Aug 2017 7:16 p.m. PST |
Just because Romero has passed doesn't mean life has gone out of the genre. Grimm |

Maybe all the fans are too busy playing zombie games and simply don't have time to post about zombies games? Or maybe they have their own unique zombie gamer online hangout site, for discussing and sharing all things zombie? Or maybe it's just the fact that it is summer and they (or their kids) have summer-ly things to do, and so this is just a short hiatus? Dan PS. It's rumored that Romero might be back. :) |
Ed the Two Hour Wargames guy | 01 Aug 2017 8:37 p.m. PST |
Or maybe it's because TMP is a board for mostly historical gamers. At least that's what the number of hits on the boards say – only 28% of the hits are from the Sci Fi and Fantasy boards. |
GROSSMAN | 01 Aug 2017 8:57 p.m. PST |
I think so, seems there is only one or two games at Hcon, and I gave up on my project 4 years ago. |
Bashytubits | 01 Aug 2017 9:33 p.m. PST |
Having zombies over? Are you nuts!
|
Cacique Caribe | 02 Aug 2017 3:03 a.m. PST |
Bashytubits, Lol. Fantastic picture! If it wasn't for the one with the axe blade in his head I would have thought they were just a bunch of fine young cannibals doing what cannibals do. Dan |

Piquet, does this mean you're holding out for the Osprey Volumes? Or will a "Bolt Action" supplement or a "Team Yankee" army guide be sufficient? |

I have only just begun my Zombie gaming. Between Warlord's "Project Z" and Two Hour Wargames' "All Things Zombie" I have years of zombie gaming to look forward to. |
Boguslaw | 03 Aug 2017 2:27 a.m. PST |
No way, we can even rise from graves ! ;) :D On one of the biggest Polish wargamming convention, I will make "All Zombie Day". Many rulesets, different settings, one theme Zombies. Don't know if it will be popular there but hope will be fun day (DayZ). |

No! It's not dead with me I just haven't had much time for much of anything, lots of four letter word have been blocking my way like life, wife, work, boss, kids, cash and time, if you can think of any other four letter word that fit please add to my list. |

"Peaked", yes. 'Over', no. So: not done yet. I'm just now getting around to painting my zombie horde, and both Zombicide and All Things Zombie will likely be staple games with me for years. Despite its flaws, the Zombicide cooperative model of 'us few versus the Horde' makes a fun evening. ( Plus: my kids like that quite a bit. ) |
SpuriousMilius | 04 Aug 2017 10:55 a.m. PST |
Not for me; I ran a Weird Wild West game last month at Texicon and tho the "Big Bads" were a vampire & a witch, zombies were among their minions. I've run several ATZ games in the past & I hope to do more in the future as well as Lovecratian Horror which can employ various undead also. I've got 144 28mm painted Zeds (a gross of zombies-Ha Ha) & plenty of survivor minis, so I want my zombies to keep on shambling. |

From the lack of posts, compared to the past, one might think so however. War Monkey No! It's not dead with me I just haven't had much time.., lots.. blocking my way like life, wife, work, boss, kids, cash and time, I can relate to a number of those pretty much keeping me out of gaming in general. When combined = stress which really makes it difficult to focus on any games. Interesting the mentioning of "Project Z", I have been wondering how were the sales going w that and if any were playing it now days. Incidentally, they were some of the more interesting posts here. |

Are you done with zombie gaming? No. Can't get enough of Zombicide. But why do you care anyway? |
