War, State and Society in Early Modern Europe any good? I've read some online reviews. But i trust my fellow TMPer more. |

It's Michael Mallett – so yes, it'll be good. I don't have this volume but the co-write he did with Hale of The Military Organisation of a Renaissance State : Venice C. 1400 to 1617 is one of the best books I've ever read. He also wrote Mercenaries and Their Masters which is a pretty essential read for the Condottieri. |

Actually it was started by Michael Mallett and finished, considerably, by Christine Shaw. However, it is a good read and well worth the dollars. |

Good read. Get it if you are interested in that history. Way better then some older works, especially in the details. |

It's good. A bit condensed (I think they had a hard word limit), but definitely worth having. |
