nother long delay, a new photo host and about two tubes of glue later, another WIP. This is the Bot Shop, Junktown's finest purveyor of industrial, combat and domestic robots. The Bot Shop has become No1 by constantly tracking the wasteland for signals of robotic activity, messily achieved by a dangerously wired mass of electronic interceptors.

As time has passed since the war, the pile of discarded bits from salvaged bots has grown, almost burying the shop under its own junk.

As ever, I've had some real fun building this one. Like the Gunshop, it's been lurking the back of my mind and it's good to finally make it real. Been saving some of those bits for years.

So to the WIPs

Long shot – the old workshop, now buried in junk on the left, booth in the middle and parts showroom on the right.

The old workshop, including the store's workhorse M34 Deuce, now sadly as defunct as the robots. A few of the working bots on display at the front.

The Bot Shop owner's den.

The tracking hub, based on an old Russian helicopter, one of the many remnants that headed to the airfield Junktown grew from in the post war years.

The showroom, displaying spare heads, power units and torsos for the keen amateur bot builder.

Some of the working models on display.

A few detail shots – rooms minus the roof.

Very well done!

I am salivating! What an amazing set of details.

Dan
PS. I'm told that, instead of gauze, dried out wet wipes works great as heavy tarps. Just re-wet with diluted PVA.

Clan Mac30 Jul 2017 6:11 a.m. PST

Many thanks Dan – will have to give the wet wipes a try.

KniazSuvorov30 Jul 2017 6:45 a.m. PST

That's fantastic! Looking forward to seeing further progress reports.

blacksoilbill30 Jul 2017 7:10 a.m. PST

So good! I'm sure it will look superb once painted up.

nvdoyle30 Jul 2017 7:44 a.m. PST

That's amazing.

The temptation to use all those junk and display bits to build more bots must have been terrific. I'm not sure I'd have the discipline to not just make a junkbot force out of them…

Do you have a site with your other work?

I don't know if I put that much effort into an entire project, let alone a single piece.

CBPIII30 Jul 2017 11:22 a.m. PST

Great stuff!

Greylegion30 Jul 2017 5:09 p.m. PST

That's freakin awesome. I gotta do something like this!!!

Fish31 Jul 2017 12:07 a.m. PST

MIND BLOWN!

The feel to it is SO spot on for a junkyard kinda establishment.

I can't wait to see this finished!

Clan Mac31 Jul 2017 8:02 a.m. PST

Hi all, Many thank for the kind comments. Undercoat is already on so I'll be picking away at the paint job over the next few weeks. It'll take a while I think.

For NV Doyle, no specific site, just a few threads on various forums, most of which have been recently wiped out by those gangsters at Photobucket. I am thinking about starting something though. The collection is getting big enough.

A quick update from the workbench – some paint going but plenty more to do yet.

Twoball Cane07 Aug 2017 6:38 p.m. PST

I'd give anything to be able to build and then paint shelves like those.

Thanks very much for the kind words.

Dan, the shelves are simpler than they look. Just plenty of small bits and LOTS of glue. I probably got the photo distance just right so you get the effect but without seeing the misses, gaps and paint in the wrong place!

The Angry Piper11 Oct 2017 10:13 a.m. PST

This might be the coolest thing I've ever seen on TMP. I am amazed.

Terry3711 Oct 2017 7:04 p.m. PST

Your work is absolutely creative and extremely well painted. A pleasure to see!

Terry
