Hi, I recently discovered that I have a relative (through marriage) that was in the 1st MI Cav. It seems that it was probably this fellow: link Does anyone know where more detailed records on the regiment might be kept? Or, is there an unofficial historian of the regiment, as I know there sometimes are for some regiments? Cheers, Christopher |

A great book on the Michigan cavalry brigade is A Cavalryman with Custer by J. H. Kidd, who rose through the ranks of the 6th Mich. Cav. to command the brigade (of which the 1st Mich. was part, of course). That's the title on a paperback copy I have. Evidently the original title (and book) was a bit longer: link |
