Just a quick query – I've noticed that the photos I've posted over the years have suddenly gone and been replaced with a notice from Photobucket to upgrade to allow 3rd party hosting.

figuring this may be 2-3 dollars a month I thought, okay – at least I won't have to put up with all the adverts that make the site so slow.

When I checked it was $400 USD a year! $400 USD A YEAR!!!!

Has anyone else had this problem? I assume it must be in their T&Cs that 3rd party hosting has to be paid for, but I wonder what else people use PB for if not that…

Needless to say I'll be looking for another provider – does anyone have any recommendations? I'm happy to pay a reasonable charge for the service.

Cheers,

Nick

had the same happen to me. If the following works then flickr is an alternative (and this is a suitable place to test my own photo)

Curse Photobucket!

On the other hand, with all the Bleeped text pop ups I needed a push to go else where.
Thanks photobucket!

Great suggestions, thanks guys

And yes, you're right Samurai; the pop ups and ads made photobucket pretty much unusable anyway so not such a bad thing to have to go elsewhere

Cheers

Nick

Same thing happened to me, and yes it was a pain trying to upload in the end because of the stupid pop ups and irrelevant ads. It's their loss. Maybe once they realise what a stupid idea it is they'll have a change of heart, probably be too late by then though.

I switched to Flickr.

So did I.

I've switched to imageshack, but how can I go back into my previous posts and update the pictures?

May Photobucket collapse back into the primordial ooze.

I had to get some pics from my "bucket" only mins. ago … And yes, I did pay to go Add Free. It seems I still have to sign in almost every time I go there now.

And until I get signed in … I get "Bombarded" by pop-ups/%$^&#!. Making signing that much more challenging than it should … So IMO P/buck. still sucks !

I don't have any capacity to even think about going through hundreds of old TMP posts and replacing the now-obliterated images, even if I could locate them all. Even if TMP permitted editing an old post. So PB has all on its lonesome managed to destroy virtually overnight a lot of valuable posts on this site. I wish TMP could go after them in some way for malicious damage. If a hacker had done something similar, it would be a crime.

That sounds good
