I remember seeing a blog post, years ago, on doing the 2nd Battle of Trafalgar in 1905. Based on a short novel written around that time. Looking for a possible OOB. British vs French. Sorry about repost 1st one got eaten by the bug. |

Based on the book "Trafalgar Refought" by William Laura Clowes, I ran this as a game at the Naval Wargames Show at Fort Brockhurst back in the 1990s using "Fire When Ready". I'll see if I can find my papers from the day with the orbat details |

One small, largely irrelevant correction: The name of the book's author was William Laird Clowes, a well known naval historian of that era. |

And every Scottish land holder becomes Laura? Technology… Thanks all, especially NCC1717; never even considered such, and Avalanche had me thinking about a LOT of match ups. Doug Edit: Wait, Franco-Spanish in 1905? I've GOT to find this book! |

Oddly enough I've thought about Trafalgar 1905 with RN vs. Russia; the idea being that the Dogger Bank Incident triggered a naval war between the two. The date doesn't quite work as the Russian Fleet had got as far as Madagascar by 1905, but the idea still has appeal… There again, going back to the OP, RN vs. France with pre-dreads – what's not to like!
