Every summer for the past three years I have run an "Introduction to D&D" program for teenagers at the library where I work. It has been hugely successful, and is one of our most popular programs. This year it will spawn four different D&D groups run by teen DMs. While the library has purchased the three primary 5e books for the teens to use, these books are very expensive compared to our standard titles, and expanding our selection into either multiple copies or the various campaign supplements just isn't in the cards. And unfortunately, most of our young players are from lower incomes and do not have the funds to purchase books themselves. So I thought I'd make a request here. If you have gently used 5e books you no longer need or want, would you be willing to donate them to our library for use by our teen patrons? We are particularly interested in the hardback adventure supplements for 5e, but would welcome additional primary books or even books from earlier editions ("no school like the old school"). Please understand that this would be a donation, including any shipping costs; I have no funds available from the library budget for this request. Our library is located in Franklin, TN, USA. If you are interested, please contact me at hshirleyATwilliamson-tnD0Torg, replacing AT and D0T with the appropriate punctuation symbols, of course. Thank you for considering helping us! --Howard Shirley, tormenting teen library patrons with kobolds since 2015. |

Thanks, Moonbeast! Reply sent. With regards to other suggestions, due to copyright laws, etc., the library can only use and provide materials that are made available from the publisher or other rights holder or authorized representative. In short, we can buy 'em through our licensed distributor service, or be given originals by someone who has legally bought 'em, or be given originals or PDFs by the publisher, but the use of scribd or any other unauthorized provider is out of the question. |
