For most people, Runewars will likely be a game that they love or hate. It is fiddly, fun and in my mind lands somewhere between a board game and a miniatures game.

Had a chance to play a demo game – nice suprise.

Game system played well and use of "order" dials worked well (orders were invented by John Hill years ago for Johnny Reb, expanded by Frank Chadwick in Combat Command and also cribbed by GW for Space Marine – they are in short a great design idea and very under used – far superior to alternating activations, random card draws or perhaps the worst – you go I go).

The miniatures are dorky esp the humans and it may be hard to subsitute others due to the basing scheme (which otherwise works very well).

Expect card inflation as in X-Wing but at least for the first year or so the game may remain stable.

Good system to borrow ideas from.

Just need them to put just the Units dials.

They have a starter set that just has the play aids including dials with no figures.

But you still need the puzzle piece bases (unless your going to do both sides and not play aganist "regular" Rune armies).

Another question is how long they will support this game -- just ask any BattleLore player. FFG is also releasing Star Wars: Legions, and CMON KS'ed Song of Ice and Fire. How many "lifestyle" rank and file games can boardgamers support?
