As if giving away the location of US secret bases in Syria wasn't crazy enough: TMP link Now Turkey is stepping up its war of words with Germany: link Is there anyone in the West and NATO that Erdogan is not picking a fight with these days? If Erdogan starts a war with Russia in Syria, how does he expect the West to back his aggressive plans for Syria? Dan |

If you haven't noticed, surprisingly we're best buddies with Erdogan for the given moment. He even wants to purchase or have a production license for S-400. I guess he'll try to bargain something out of all these tensions, however it might be heading to disaster in a very unpredicted way. He is more likely to attack West-backed Kurds than Iranians, or Assad forces. |

Things are so confusing right now with all the groups and factions in Syria that the winds could easily shift in the most unpredictable and dangerous ways. Dan |

Personally I believe Merkel offers more of a threat to Europe at the moment than Erdogan |

@Barin1 And that is after they downed a Russian jet and killed a pilot. I wouldn't trust Erdogan any further than I could throw him. |

I doubt that anybody here trusts him. Still, if he can be forced to behave by playing his tensions with West, he at least can be contained as a destabilizing factor in Syria. He got Russian tourists back, and we have lifted embargo on Turkish goods, Turkish stream pipeline project is back and running…still, Erdogan can act in a very unpredictable way and ditch both West and Russia, for, say, Qatar… |
