What do you think is a good figure/unit ratio to have a balanced game using TSATF?
Im thinking 1 British/Allied unit for every 2 enemy units. What do others think?

Don't the rules suggest 3:1 in favor of whoever the natives are?

My guess is,
3:1 if the non-Colonial Power doesn't have rifles
2:1 if they do.

Zulus 3:1 for sure, Pathans maybe 2:1, Boers probably even up, 1 to 1.

OSL2000, It really depends on the scenario. Is it a historical battle, historical fiction, or Hollywood based. Who''s attacking and defending, what are the objectives, what are the troop qualities and OOB's, what is the terrain? I take all of these factors into consideration when I design a scenario. Sorry if I muddied the waters more……
Cheers,

The 20th anniversary edition rules suggest the following (from page 10):

Pathan: 2.25 Pathan figures for each British figure.

Zulus: 3 Zulu figures for each British figure

Egyptians: 1.25 Egyptian figures for each British figure

Boers: 1.25 Boer figures for each British figure

Dervish: 2.25 Dervish figures for each British figure
