So, 4 months after the first figures arrived, I finally had enough for a game. Each unit of 5 bases represents a mix of samurai and ashigaru with various weapons, so the actual troops on the bases don't really matter here.

The Oda deployed in foreground. The Mori advance in the background.

Maeda Toshiie with some Hashiba troops march past a shrine:

View from the Oda left:

The Oda centre. The Mori appear on the horizon

Mori Terumoto in his honjin, surrounded by Mori troops.

Kobayakawa clan arrive on the Mori left.

As Maeda and Kobayakawa fight over the bridge, Oda Nobutada leads his men forward.

Fierce fighting as Maeda drive back the Kobayakawa

A lull in the fighting as the Kobayakawa fall back to regroup

Meanwhile, in the centre, The Mori main force attack the Oda centre. Oda teppo open fire.

Maeda gains the upper hand against Kobayakawa and force them from the field.

With the Kobayakawa routed, Maeda turns on the Kikkawa in the Mori centre. The Oda advance and the Mori collapse:

All figures by Baccus. Buildings by Mura miniatures, except the shrine which is by Castle Arts.

Inspiring work, and almost reminiscent of Shogun: TotalWar.

Looks great. I've always been a sucker of the pageantry of classical Japanese warfare too.

Visually very impressive. Awesome looking game. What rules did you use?

Looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. The rules used were based on Pulse of Battle (Brent Oman's ancients rules), but adapted to work on a square grid for movement and with a few other add-on rules. Essentially, each unit represents 1-2,000 men, composed of a mix of all weapon types.

I'm going to work on a non-PoB based set, but in the meantime the PoB variant works well enough.

Brilliant work! This is just how I picture the grand Sengoku Jidai battles, with the masses of banners of different clans. Given that these are 6mm, did you paint the mons yourself, or are they decals?

Rabelais23 Jul 2017 2:43 a.m. PST

Thanks. As for the mon, neither. The sashimono and nobori are printed on paper and then the field is painted over. There's a better description here: wargamesasp.wordpress.com/2017/04/02/6mm-sengoku

What a practical and flexible solution! Thanks for the link.

Looks great! On top of the beauties of the armies is a really nice touch about your scenery: that there are actually people working in the fields. That's splendid!
