I'm making an Inquisimunda warband, and I'm thinking of making it around an Alpha Legion Marine. The only problem is that I don't know if they are good or bad. I've read that they are evil, but I've also read that some of them are good. Help pls.

I'm pretty sure they're officially bad guys.

I usually check here (which is, admittedly, not official), but I do like that sources are cited:

Officially the AL are enemies of the Imperium, Chaos Schismatics, Heretics & traitors.

Where the ambuguity comes in is their motivations. In the Horus Heresy book Legion, it is shown that the AL may be working for a Xenos organization called The Cabal (or at least aligned with their objectives), for the good of the galaxy which does not necessarily coincide with the good of the Imperium. So they can be "good guys" in the sense that they are working towards salvation of the galaxy, but this does not mean they won't make war against the Imperium.

That being said, in the last 10,000 years, a lot can happen. And being allied with other forces that are definitely Chaos tainted or fully fallen can rub off on different AL warbands. Such to the point that they may be fallen & fully within the grip of Chaos.

Damon.

Or they could be loyalists who never betrayed the Emperor. There were plenty of those in the other Traitor Legions, no reason the Alpha Legion should be different.

It was pretty ironic how the race that spawned Slaanesh would think that regaining their galaxy spanning empire over the ashes of the Imperium would result in anything other than another Eldar fall and another victory for Chaos.

I'm going to be working on a small Epic scale A-Legion unit. About 3 detachments. I got this info from a website that is all about the 40K fluff. I found it useful … link

And yes … they are "badd guys" …
