I am looking for early war U.S. Army and Marines for the Philippines, Wake Island, etc. in 28mm. I have a handful of the Pulp Figures organized into squads. Does anyone make figures for this period in this scale? Before posting I did some searches in TMP but didn't come up with a previous thread on this topic. Buck Surdu |

I don't really think there are any beyond this guy: link There are some 1/72 figures from here: link Gotta love that he has done the old M1917 37mm infantry gun though! We don't have that in 15mm beyond WWI stuff. And some 15mm here from Eureka: TMP link I've thought about using Bolt Action miniatures and just doing head swaps. The US troops basically wore the same gear, just in khaki, and wore tin hats. They even used M1 Garands too. |

You may be able to use some of the Pershing/Villa models if you're willing to do head swaps. I know OG do some; I think I have seen others. This would allow you to do the ever-popular 26th Cavalry charge. |

Thanks. I was unaware of Early War Miniatures. How do they compare in size to Warlord or Black Tree? |

Over the last few years a couple more have emerged. I'm putting them here for folks doing the old Google Search for these miniatures: Steve Barber 28mm link They look really nice, but they are armed with Springfield '06s. They are fine if you're doing USMC, but off if you're doing Philippine Scouts or 31st Infantry after 1940. By that time those regiments are equipped with Garands. This line is sold in individual packs or sets of 4.The four packs seem to offer alternaive head. This line only had squad level arms- Thompsons, BARs, and Springfield rifles. The only office mini is wounded. Company B Miniature link A really nice line of 28mm models sold as individuals or in packs of 2,3,or 4s. The specialized models like NCOs and Officers are in the 2's, while regular infantry figures are in 4's. I believe that the Philippine Scouts for the 26th Cavalry are actually armed with M-1s while the other Scouts and the regular US Army guys are still armed with the Springfield. These are solid cast guys with no head options, but there is a nice variety of poses. You also get a more full range of support weapons too such as M1917 MGs, 37mm ATGs, the M3 SPM (with a crew), the M1 Scout Car that was used by the 26th (!), and the correct version of the M3 Light. Sadly though there aren't any heavier guns, mortars, or M1917 LMGs. However it's a huge step in the right direction. With these and some raiding of WWII US/UK and WWI US 28mm lines you should be able to get MOST of the equipment available for an early War US force. |
