So it's Sunday morning and I'm almost ready to head back to Canada after a long, fun and tiring Historicon. I played in a lot of games, albeit only two from the PEL.
Thank go to the following for making this a great weekend experience:
1) Cliff Brunken for his Hsiku Arsenal game on Thursday
2) Tom Graves for his 55 days to Helium game
Both are excellent GMs who know how to pace their games, don't take things too seriously, and make sure everyone is having a good time. I would recommend anything they will put on in the future.
3) Thanks for everyone who made the Saga tournament a lot of fun. Special thanks to Jeff Wiltrout for his efforts and skills in "cat herding".
4) Speaking of tournaments, I'd like to thank the HMGS tournaments manager Scott Holder for his tireless efforts. Over the years I have come to him with requests of varying difficulty and he has always helped me out. This Historicon was no different. I don't think the phrase, "Sorry, that can't be done" has ever crossed his lips. He is one of the unsung heroes of the HMGS cons.
5) This was the first time I took a Hobby U course by Heather Blush. Not only does she have plenty of know how to impart on her students, she does so in a friendly, humorous and non pedantic manner. This won't be the last course I take from her.
For those who don't know, the courses at Hobby U are one of the best things at the conventions and I suggest everyone try taking something.
6) Lastly thanks to my friends and war gaming companions, the "Usual Suspects". You make the long trip very worthwhile. I'm not even the longest driver anymore.
So that was the last hurrah at Fredericksburg. I'm of mixed mind leaving the place and of mixed mind having it return back to the Host. Best wishes to the BOD on the difficult task of getting Historicon a more permanent venue that pleases the most amount of membership and the vendors.
Oh ya, sorry for there not being any pictures.
