Are you guys having such a good time that you don't have time to post anything? Come on, throw us a bone of a few pictures at least … please.

I was just thinking the same thing.

Apparently while TMP Editor Bill is on a 2 w/o. Vacation, TMP has been reset so that only Supporting Members can post. That limits the TMP pool considerably.

Historicon seems to be going really well. An increase in vendors was announced at the HMGS member meeting last might. It seems overall attendance may be up as well, though the final tally won't be confirmed til post-con.

Through Saturday afternoon, the main gaming hall, tournament areas, and club rooms all seem full and active. Just getting over knee surgery, so my wandering has been limited. The Aspern-Essling game is amazing, with an out-of-this-world terrain board. There's a beautifully done
Pirate cove with ships for Captain Henry Morgan's raid(s). Miniature Building Authority products are gracing at least a half dozen excellent tables.

Hopefully more complete reports with pictures will follow, as folks are able to post.

Ditto. And I'm here. Or would that be "there." It's all too confusing.

I was reluctant to post as I have no picture upload capability.

First of all, it's HOT. Damn hot. Real hot. Cook in your shorts hot. 95 Wed. 92 Thurs. 100 Fri and 90 today. And humid. Not 100%, but above 50. We had a big thunder Boomer last night, but it didn't cool things for very long.

If you have been to any FBurg HCons, you got a pretty good read. Registration Wed Night was a mess, but not for want of the staff doing all they could to get it going. It's gotten better since.

The 2 main game areas are still the same. The big room has lots of light, but you can't hear yourself think. This despite the Con Center bringing in mid grade carpet for the entire front 40% of the hall. Aisles and all. Only the food area, the tourney sections and the flea market are bare concrete.

The smaller rooms have no noise issues, but, as always, have poor lighting.

Lots of gamers. Lots of games. Can't really detect an increase or decrease from prior years. The showpiece game is a big pirate game. There will be pics I'm sure to follow.

The big new stuff for sale are the Blue Moon Boxers and the heroic 28mm Blood & Plunder line. It feels like the same bunch of vendors with a few variations. A few new players came and a few old standbys took a pass, but no major shift in the overall number. C&B minis couldn't make it as their operator had to go into the hospital. I have no details.
Acheson showed up unexpectedly.

I'm sure there will be more aars, with pix and more detail to follow, but here's what I can offer for the now.

Oh, cut everyone some slack! Let them enjoy the convention, drive home, gloat over their purchases, get a good night's sleep, select and edit the photos, and post the eye candy Monday or Tuesday. Right now, their primary concern should be having a good time, not providing me with a vicarious holiday.

I would post pics from our games, but the hotel internet is little better than the telegraph

The parking lot was filled every day. I saw a lot of people having a great time. Looks to me like this one is a big success.

I have to ask ! Was Flag Dude There ?

Yes. Spoke to him at length. If you like his stuff and can tolerate his intermittent communications/customer service, I would continue to buy from him.

I know I am going to persevere.

There were a few videos posted on YouTube during setup on Wednesday/Thursday. Pretty cool for someone like me who has not made the Maryland location for HCon.

You mean the Virginia location?

It was great. I arrived at the FCC on Friday at 7:45 AM to set up for my game at 9:00 AM. The door to the room was locked. No one around. Someone finally showed up at 8:45. Awesome.

Got home Sunday after a long drive….

Great convention from my perspective. Our events went well and we had no real issues.

General comments:

I Still wish that Cold Wars was at the FCC because it was really hot for us Northerners. However the AC was mostly able to keep up in the main hall…. at least better than my memories of July at the Host. So maybe about even up there. Realistically I never left the center in the daylight because I was too busy. Also since it is moving to Lancaster, I guess we will see next July, let's hope PA has a cool July.

Noise level in the main hall was high (but Distlefink Friday and Saturday is also loud). Someday it would be great if the tournament area rated carpet, but probably a moot point now.

Noise in the side rooms was much better, but lighting was too dark.

One thing I will miss about the FCC is that the vender hall is so much closer to the gaming area than Lancaster. It was possible to shop between games without packing a lunch for the journey.

Also, it really seemed a lot busier than last year both in the number of games and the number of attendees? Not official just a subjective evaluation.

HMGS guys once again thank you for all your work. You guys do a great job and I know it is a generally a thankless task.

The only real problem I saw all weekend was the registration on Wednesday night. I know that HMGS Staff already know this too…. Because plenty of people will gripe about it here. I am usually a GM and almost never have an issue, but this seems to be the persisting problem area at all three conventions.

We had a great time and had our best Historicon ever. My Saturday afternoon Regimental Fire & Fury Valverde game was full; with people who knew the rules! We shared our booth with Rich Hasenauer of Fire & Fury Games and he had his new revised Brigade rules for sale at a convention for the first time. All around, the convention seemed very busy, more so than I remember from last year. We discovered the Park Lane Tavern in Fredericksburg and enjoyed the fare and beer there twice while in town. Both myself and my buddies said this was the best Historicon in recent memory.

I had a good time at the convention. The registration lines were longer than in the past. On Thursday, the line to enter the vendor hall seemed to go on and on. I waited until the end of the line passed by to join. There has always been a line in the past, but not that long.

One thing I noticed was carpet laid down in the gaming exhibition room. This deadened the noise and was more comfortable to walk and stand upon.

My overall feel was that HISTORICON 2017 was very well attended. And as always, thanks to the volunteer staff, the vendors, and the game masters. I shall miss this venue.
