One of my side hobbies is collecting reproduction hats for the conflicts I game. I have a fairly inexpensive Victorian era sun helmet that has developed mold spots in storage. I own a couple of other semi antique sun helmets, including a couple of Wolseley Royal Marine helmets which look like they have been restored using some sort of white material. Can any reenactors out there recommend what to use. Is pipe clay still available, or would a suede shoe buck bag do the trick?
