Which hat is the most awkward to wear?

My guess would be a Napoleonic hussar's busby, with full plumes. How do you fit through a doorway?

You take your hat off first.

It's easy to knock your tricorn off of your head with a musket.

The British helmet from WW2 had a thick bit of rubber to pad the bolt holding the web liner in the helmet. It tended to rub my scalp in a painful way.

I wonder about bicornes and tricorns

Also for those hard-core types a mitre or, probably worse, a bearskin

Oh come on! Medieval great helm with jousting crest, hands down. And who would want to duck under a lintel with "Loki horns" towering over a great helm?

Or just a light gentle breeze. :)

In my limited experience, it's a bearskin grenadier/fusilier mitre. They are top heavy and will fall when looking down unless worn uncomfortably tight. Never had a problem with a tricorn if it's worn at the proper angle.

Of course, a good ACW slouch hat is hands down the most comfortable.
