This weekend the local HMGS-South group played a WWI naval game using the Seekrieg 5 rules. HMS Dreadnought and two British pre-dreadnoughts take on six German pre-dreadnoughts.

This was a great game: an interesting, asymmetric scenario, good rules, a knowledgable & well-prepared host, gracious players, large swings of the dice on both sides, and no one making blunders in maneuvering their ships that tipped the game. The result was a lot of fun, with rather a draw in the end, as HMS Dreadnought escaped the German clutches. The British ability to hold off the German ships long enough to degrade their speed faster than they could degrade Dreadnought's speed was the key to her escape.

Thanks to all for an enjoyable afternoon.

Rick
