Events are in and the PEL is looking good… as usual, there is a wide variety of events and events continue to come in… these additional events will be in a PEL update before pre-reg goes live.

Oyez! Oyez! Oyez!
Per HMGS Fall In Important Dates:

That is in two, twa, dos, deux, itneen, zwei, dva, cha', dahkuh, čr, do, irantu, ni, tékeni, tali, malġuk, huleti, mbili….

This has been a multi-lingual Public Service Announcement.

Also, I got the tournament listing to the IT guy to post on the website…. currently almost 300 events (not including tourneys), so light, but there are also a bunch of events I am trying to get added into the PEL addendum that came in after the PEL deadline…. a bunch more actually, so thank you all!

historygamer14 Aug 2017 5:16 p.m. PST

Dan:

I understand one measure of success is the overall number of games, but as a GM and player I'll take wide aisle ways for ingress/egress and decent space between the tables that allows for chairs and some XXL players any day.

Just sayin. :-)

capncarp14 Aug 2017 7:39 p.m. PST

Tournaments are up on the HMGS website, Dan.

Poniatowski15 Aug 2017 5:10 a.m. PST

@Hostorygamer… YES! I agree whole heartedly. The ideal amount of events for the Host, provided the space we have, with ADA & fire considerations seems to be about just about 300 events…. this could really hurt Hcon next year as I think their event rosters burst at about 500+ events.

So, to answer your question… I used to judge the show by events run, speakers, fullness of vendor hall…. it is actually a blend of everything.. the goal is to try and make it the most fun possible…

As an attendee… I consider the show successful if: I find and play in at least one new game and 2-3 that I like or already play, can get into the flea market for at least one session.. and sell so I can take my cash to the dealer hall to supplement my spending and, of course.. catch up with friends!!!

historygamer15 Aug 2017 7:17 a.m. PST

Best of luck to you and the con. Looking forward to it as always. :-)

Poniatowski15 Aug 2017 8:26 a.m. PST

Thanks sir…. I just need to mend the bridges of the GM's. Events will open and close early next year too, just like the other shows.

Lesson learned.. email often, send bulk to all GM's and club POC's well in advance, get web page updated ASAP… with correct data like a month after this show…. AND, make sure it clearly says LARGER this time… dates are tentative at this time.. check back often as they may change!

I learned from this.. there was a valuable take away…

This is a very interesting statement in light of the facts. In Historicon's last four years at the Host (2006-2009) there were an average of 590 games, with a peak of 720 in 2007, all with full ADA and fire code compliance.

Dan, don't forget Facebook updates and announcements here on TMP and other non-official forums. (Yes, I know the plural is "fora" but forums is more readily recognizable, so no Latin critiquing, m'kay?)

Maybe it was just well managed. :-)

All those years under the stern ruler of nuns… I think the plural is forae….C

capncarp16 Aug 2017 6:29 p.m. PST

Well, Cleo, I never actually did make a foray into Latin, so most of what I know comes third hand from my godsons: e.g. "Semper Ubi Sub Ubi".
And Cleo, I'll see your Latin nuns and raise you my 3rd grade teacher nun, who had schoolroom weapons science at a doctorate level--an 18-inch wooden ruler with a 12-inch one strapped by tape to the far end, thereby increasing mass for maximum impact.

47Ronin21 Aug 2017 5:34 p.m. PST

FYI, the PEL, Hobby U. and Tournament information have all been posted at the Fall In web page.
Enjoy.
Hope to see you there.

Not my game but am guessing a misprint.

Ok, so.. the day prefix letters… F-S & Z were corrected, the new Tournament list is up and I am working on the PEL addendum, which will contain all of the events that came in after the PEL deadline.

Also, a lot of folks in the past seem to forget their game times, etc… so, as an added feature, when you get your badge, it will not only tell you what event and day you pre-regged for, but also the time in military time to help out so you don't have to look your game up again.

There was a cancellation already.. one man, three events… I'll get the details later and the event will be removed from pre-reg.

Poniatowski23 Aug 2017 4:46 a.m. PST

I will look at the Gorilla event, that had to be an export issue as we don't touch those numbers at all.

capncarp23 Aug 2017 6:24 a.m. PST

Dan, are you sure? It might just be a special "City of Lancaster Walk-Up Promotional Event" to entice new blood into the group.

capncarp23 Aug 2017 6:30 a.m. PST

It's "the Ruler" for you, Ms. Liebl!!!!!

Rotundo23 Aug 2017 9:58 a.m. PST

Well Dan, if you have to look anyway. The slot that says sponsor was filled. I do not have a sponsor. Also my club affiliation is wrong. I do not need this fixed at all personally. I really do not care, but the sponsor may care. I honestly do not know how this all works. Any thing I can do to help rectify any situation….let me know.

John Michael Priest23 Aug 2017 4:19 p.m. PST

I am running two 54mm games on Saturday and one on Sunday. ACW. Regimental level where each player commands a brigade or one of two batteries on each side. Play testing some ideas which I tried at home. "Drive Those Fellows Out of There"

It has the potential to be as wild as my Alamo Game.

<pokes the somnolent thread>
Is this thing dead yet?

Ahem. Once more, this con, I will bring my boxed copy of "Awful Green Things From Outer Space" with the possibly foolishly hopeful goal of avoiding wasting opportunities and _actually getting a game up_ in downtime with some old gamer who remembers it fondly or faintly, or with some young buck (or doe) who never heard of it but thinks it's cute. (Cute. Yeah, you get your ship's crew decimated by walking snot monsters, and see if you think it's cute!)

Anybody else got similar ideas?

Poniatowski28 Aug 2017 9:20 a.m. PST

@ Rotundo….
I will go back and look, the merge was not done by me, but there are sometimes issues.

thxs,
Dan

Rotundo28 Aug 2017 10:00 a.m. PST

Thanks Dan, I do not care per se. I just do not want to represent something I may not agree with, or that do not agree with me.

corzin29 Aug 2017 9:26 a.m. PST

capncarp…did you play the version the HAWKS put on at Historicon?

capncarp29 Aug 2017 6:49 p.m. PST

No, didn't get to H-Con, but I would have played it if I'd gone.
Actually, this is the TSR boxed version, with which my college mates whiled away many an hour.

Re: AGTFOS as miniature game: I have bought the FIMO bakeable polymer clay in the requisite colors, but getting the armatures right may be my undoing.

corzin30 Aug 2017 10:37 a.m. PST

i'm not sure who ran it…but i forget who he said made the unauthorized figures he used

Lord of the Rings30 Aug 2017 3:56 p.m. PST

I ran that AGTfOS game. I had found the figures a few years ago at a Historicon, probably the last one that was at the Host. They were by a company called Bad Idea Games. The package listed a website, but when I went there a few months ago they were not listed – all the website says is that they're sleeping and may be back sometime.

I would post a pic of the packaging for the figures, but I don't know how to add a picture into one of these forum posts.

If you're really curious, contact the HAWKs and I respond to your email with the pic.

And if you're really, really curious, the website listed on the packaging is badideagames.com

Any time frame on the publication of the updated PEL?

capncarp08 Sep 2017 6:40 p.m. PST

+1 to what John Michael Priest said.

Gimme an exclamation point!
What does that spell?????

Poniatowski11 Sep 2017 10:47 a.m. PST

Sorry for the delay, the PEL addendum and reg system are almost updated.
There are a lot of new games that are post PEL that were/still are being added.

Beyond this update, any other new events will only be listed in the program and ticketed on the event board.

John Michael Priest12 Sep 2017 4:21 a.m. PST

Thanks for the update. Mike

Poniatowski15 Sep 2017 7:46 a.m. PST

OK, 20+ games added to the pre-reg system….
There were a few cancellations… I will be contacting folks who signed up for those games so they can get in a re-pick an event.

You should see the addendum up very shortly now.

thx,
Dan

Disco Joe15 Sep 2017 1:13 p.m. PST

So are we ever going to see what the design of the t-shirt looks like or will this be like Historicon and we don't get to see it until we get to the convention?

Poniatowski18 Sep 2017 5:59 p.m. PST

The tee shirt design is the logo on the Fall In website…. Same as it always is. It is the "fall in" recruitment poster.

briscoesays18 Sep 2017 6:38 p.m. PST

Going to fall-in. I probably missed it as this string is getting long, but any word on the vendor's list? Seems I spend more time in the venders hall than anywhere else.

Bowman19 Sep 2017 8:18 a.m. PST

To be fair, that is not a list of Vendors.

capncarp19 Sep 2017 10:53 a.m. PST

Actually, it wl a link to see the logo for the convention as well as the registration, PEL, etc. In truth, the exhibitors link, as well as the Theme link, are not yet functional.

Bowman19 Sep 2017 10:59 a.m. PST

Ya, it's still too early.

Is this what TMP is reduced to?

Can we discuss chariots armor, speed, whatever… C

BTCTerrainman Supporting Member of TMP20 Sep 2017 6:32 a.m. PST

It is definitely too early for the vendors listing. The deadline for payment is at the end of September. Many of us wait to pay until near the deadline. I will be finishing my paperwork in the next week and submitting payment.

It's the time wasting discussion in the calm before the storm.

Okaaaaayyyyy….

How 'bout them Armored Chariots whose drivers are high on speed?
Or, them Speedy chariots driven by armored whatevers?
