When you realize you could have started your 3d printed miniature range with 9 codes of infantry instead of 34, but you're already done and there's no point in re-doing it? |

Cannot say that I have, but I'm pretty sure Leon Adler, Peter Berry etal will be nodding their heads. |

At least I'm in good company! |

Negative waves man…… Instead, think how often folk are put off new ranges, when the variety of figures offered is very limited and rarely expanded. Now that you are at this stage, you can do a Seventh Day thing "and He rested" |

Deadhead- Thanks, true. I wanted to avoid exactly that, so I don't mind so much. I'm trying to do this right the first time, and part of that was to come out of the gate strong. I have 65 codes so far. I've probably gone through twenty iterations on them, if not more. Probably over 500 individual CAD models are behind the current production line, if not more. Little tweaks here and there, lots of failed experiments. Quit a bit of money into it as well. It was a lot more complicated than I originally imagined, but now it's all coming together. link And by this weekend I'll have painted examples of every code : ) I've also put up two of the basing systems that occurred to me the other day that would have saved me all the trouble. It'll save gamers a lot of money, so it was still worth it. The models are the same, it's just a much more elegant, efficient, cheaper way of manufacturing them. They're the last products in the store, for now. I realized today that I could have saved lot of work for myself by just making the strips without flags, and encouraging people to print out colored flags and glue those to the strips. I'm going to do it this way on my own figures just because I think it looks better; some people might like the plastic flag option though, even if it is more expensive due to the greater print volume. Anyway, it's nice to have all the options in place. After a few more codes are in I can move on to the renaissance. I received a killer experimental pike block in the mail today. 40mm square with 500 perfectly formed, tough as nails pikes, with each pike tip individually models and free-standing. Not one broke in transit. Anyway, it'll also fit in with some earlier H&M period armies as well. GNW and such. For that though I'll need some winger hussars…. |

Yah but where the fun of only 9 codes? My first test order should come today. Can't wait to see them. |

Exactly. We want a range…right from the start. Instant gratification. As long as you put the King's colour to the right of the regt colour, the grenadiers on the right of the line, the spongeman on the right of the gun, I'll be happy. Be warned. There are those of us who will be checking the turnback ornaments, I do not want to see three rows of buttons on the First Light KGL and no plates on the bearskins for the 3rd Grenadiers of the Guard please. Seriously though. What fascinating work. As one who would only consider 28mm work, just to look at…..if I did want to throw dice and actually use them….this would be scale to go for! |
