I will come clean, I have broke the rules with photobucket by posting third party images!IE posting my work here and other places on line. It's my own fault I didn't read the terms and conditions but its never being a problem until now. So it's my bad! Plain and simple! So apologies to anyone who looks through any of my posts and doesn't see any pictures! So sorry everybody my sincere apologies

Hanging my head in shame

I thought there was an embedding feature in photobucket that allowed people to post or share photos elsewhere.

actually what happened is that photobucket without warning changed the rules about 3rd party linking. WE didn't do anything different, they did.

all my threads are now too full of blacked out images saying to upgrade my photobucket account where before there was wargaming glory! : (

so reading your post again bbracker I can't tell if you're being silly about apologizing or being serious… hopefully silly.

i'll have to decide what to do next. my WIDTW thread, which has been going on for 6 months, lost all of it's pictures.

Sorry it was tongue in cheek! I couldn't help myself!

bracken, I'm sure somebody will get this all figured out quickly. The ACW Gallery without bracken is at a great loss.

I looked at my Flickr account, which I haven't used in years, and it says I have 1 TB of storage which I pay nothing for.

Thanks TIG you are too generous with your praise! I am messing about with other options.

Flickr is one but I tried to post a picture direct but it just wouldn't have it! I will try again tomorrow once I'm rested up a bit.

I'm steeling myself to change all the links in my blog to a new host. I suppose I was not benefiting photobucket as I didn't take any notice of their ads but even so, the change is a bit dramatic.

Ok guys I'm a complete technophobe, I'm getting a link for my pictures from Flickr but when I paste them it comes up as a link and not an image! Help!!

PrivateSnafu01 Jul 2017 6:33 a.m. PST

Select the option that says Forum or BBCode. I can post a screen shot tomorrow, traveling today sorry.

Photobucket has been going downhill quite quickly for the last two years. What was once a very good service has now been slowed down horribly with click bait ads, and just "junk".

One of my accounts was deleted completely and they can't figure out or feel obligated to tell me "why" it just vanished….

bracken Supporting Member of TMP01 Jul 2017 11:34 a.m. PST

PrivateSnafu, thank you for the response I do my posts through my phone or tablet. It doesn't give you an option other than copy link. So I am still at a loss.

Murphy, photobucket can be temperamental! Its a shame because for me it was simple to use.

PrivateSnafu01 Jul 2017 5:27 p.m. PST

I tried it on the Flickr app, no go. You'll probably have to access Flickr using your web browser (e.g. Chrome) then request desktop site. It can be done via mobile or tablet just more steps and complication.

Thanks PrivateSnafu your assistance is very much appreciated, I will have persevere with Flickr

Pretty amazing what PB now wants us to pay them.

I need to find a different site.

mikeygees14 Jul 2017 12:58 p.m. PST

Just now finding this out! I posted a few for sale items on TMP and got the stiff from Photobucket. Aaah but if I upgrade for only $399 USD a year I can continue to do what I use to do for free! F#%*~#! Bleep bleep bleeps….

Recently I went searching the net for a photo site, thats when I came across this 'little issue' in an article online as outlined above by @mikeygees.

Whats more.. the article went on to report that apparently, members were just 'Notified' basically 'starting "now" these are the rules" w/ no advance warning or option to recover any of the images they posted etc.

reposting this here from another thread:

PhotoBucket is garbage in my book. They were always changing their site, often it was buggy, I kept having to relearn how to navigate it, I eventually couldn't get my older browsers to work on it, and now this latest, sudden, surprise move to rip off patrons and hold your images hostage, since you can't link to them or use them usefully. I don't even know if you can (individually? Sheesh, the time) download your own images for re-use elsewhere.

I set up an account today on VGY.ME, "simple image hosting" that is free, promises to be easy to us, and may not have any complicating issues for a while, at least -- I read up here how flickr and imgur and google all have their own sets of problems and creepiness.

Thanks for nothing, PB. To quote an old Southern or Western aphorism, Bleep you and the horse you rode in on.
