Episode 2 from third season. If you hate third season and avoid it, you should still see this one! It's a DC Fontana script, it's got Romulans, it's got a strong female role, and some Vulcan/Romulan finger touching stuff! The Vulcan love-is-finger-touching thing really got started with the episode in season 2 (Journey to Babel), where the actors playing Spock's parents invented this way of touching their fingers together to express Vulcan love. And now, in this episode, Spock gets to take finger touching to the next level! My only question: Why is everyone so puzzled about a cloaking device? Didn't we already see it in season one? Nothing to really wargame here, but we do learn that the Romulans have Klingon vessels at this point. Well… you could have a scenario around the planned Romulan boarding of the Enterprise! (Can transporters penetrate shields???) |

Transporters do not work through shields. |

Except on odd numbered days. Seriously. Transporters work through Shields half the time, and it is even stated as part of a story that if you know the exact shield frequency, you can beam through them any time. ( Remember when the Dukas sisters used Geordi's VISOR to spy on the Enterprise to find out exactly that information? . . . yeah, I'm a nerd. ) |
