Add another to the list of movies I'll never watch.

Rich Bliss29 Jun 2017 4:35 p.m. PST

I imagine that's a very long list.

so, I stopped myself from entering the doghouse. I was going to make a comment that was a knee jerk reaction. Fortunately the phone rang.

The production company is from Germany. This is a fan made film. It's not a Hollywood big budget film and Hollywood does not want SPACE 1889. I know because I shopped the feature film and television series around LA for over 15 years.

I support these filmmakers and their efforts. They did this in their free time after work and on weekends. They had a very little budget and yet it looks like they spent a few million. The locations are fantastic. The costumes and props great.

If you have never worked on a feature film before, it takes a lot of work and dedication. Multiple that by ten for an independent production. What takes Hollywood 18 months to make takes 4 or more years for an independent production company.

Now, this type of film might not be your thing, and that's fine. For the rest of us, it will be cool to see the completion of all of their hard work and love for not only the type of film, but for their passion to the project.

Respectfully,

Matthew Grove

I don't believe I disrespected anyone. I don't care for steampunk, Space 1889, nor the movie clip. A lot of people don't like Piquet or other products I have. That's life – different opinions are fine. We don't need to agree. I disagree on your assessment of the costumes and props. Once again, that's fine – we don't have to agree.

Now if it had zombies or pirates in it – THAT would be an awesome movie.

Piquet Rules29 Jun 2017 5:57 p.m. PST

And yes, it is a very long list of movies I don't want to watch. That's what makes it a joy when I watch a movie that was actually good, entertaining, well written, and well acted.

Rich Bliss29 Jun 2017 6:51 p.m. PST

Well, thanks for weighing in then. And, for the record, Piquet is a game I never want to play.

Good luck to 'em.

I love the passion that goes into garage and low-budget indie film-making. That is a superb trailer. I hope they do get to make it!

Looks pretty cool to me!

Vigilant30 Jun 2017 2:37 a.m. PST

I'd watch it. But the important thing is that we now know that Piquet Rules doesn't like Steampunk. Not sure how I've lived without that piece of knowledge.

Piquet Rules30 Jun 2017 2:51 a.m. PST

You're all very welcome! Rich – I'm glad to know you'll never play Piquet, and I can assure you it won't affect my weekend. Vigilant – thanks for noting that it IS important that I don't like steampunk. Unless it has zombies or pirates. Or maybe superheroes.

Why did you post your first comment the way you did? Your second post was much more valuable in understanding that it is not the film but the era that does not interest you.

As one of the supporters, I knew it was a niche, and glad none the less for those interested.

What you won't be seeing is me. I paid for the honor, knowing I'd never make it to Germany for the privilege. I did try to shoot a bit of video; but nothing up to snuff. Mea culpa.

Suffice to say, I donated to support the movie. The level I pledged gave me the chance, but it WAS a donation to create the film, which I consider Steam with little of the Punk.

Cool! I'd pay money to see it.

I'm a backer, so have been watching this for awhile. I'm looking forward to it being completed. Global locations and lots of work.

tsofian01 Jul 2017 10:53 a.m. PST

I also backed this and look forward to seeing it!

cybrt5405 Jul 2017 11:05 a.m. PST

And I too backed it and look forward to seeing it!

@Picquet Rules, if you don't like Steampunk, why are you commenting on a thread in the Victorian Sci Fi board?

Bohdan Khmelnytskij16 Aug 2017 7:25 p.m. PST

Very cool

The female Martian has far too many clothes on! Look at the original art work. As for the gentlemen , get your ties on ! This is the 1880's not the 1970's.

Still no advancement since I first saw these clips. Hoping for a better turn out when they are finished………….A good show may…hopefully lead to future projects on a bigger scale?

Piquet Rules: "Now if it had zombies or pirates in it – THAT would be an awesome movie."

Pirates? Maybe.
Zombies? Never, never, never!
VSF? I'm slowly building up a 15-18mm collection that needs to be painted and gamed. I guess that explains why I lurk here.
