I suppose I am a perfectionist. If I do not do something well, I will practice until I can do it better. As St Jerome said: Good, better, best. Never let it rest. 'Til your good is better and your better is best. But I'll admit to one failing: I cannot cut out round things. Anything with a curve defeats me. No matter how well I follow the line, it still ends up lumpy. |

I cannot measure. No matter how many times I measure something, when I cut it it is wrong. Sometimes too short, sometimes too long but never what I want. "Measure twice, cut once, cuss because it came out wrong." |

I am pretty naive about people – fortunately my beloved wife can read people like a book Plus I am not a very good driver – again I have the good fortune of being an excellent navigator and am married to an outstanding driver who seems unable to read a map – marriage made in heaven |

I turn 69 later this year and I'm still breathing, but as far as I can tell getting old without croaking is about the only thing I actually do well. Everything else, not so much. LT |

This morning I was awakened to the phenomenon of not remembering well. This is something new. My memory has always been very good for details. This fubar was not only not a detail issue, it was directional, making me wonder if I've developed some sort of "exotic" dyslexia. So, I will never let the words, "I'd bet my life I'm right", pass my lips again. I would have been wrong this morning, one hundred and eighty degrees wrong in fact. I will never again take it for granted that my memory is correct. And that sobers me about life in the future. Anything from now on that I recall will come complete with a caveat that I am not reliable. |

Much of my life makes sense if you assume I have a charisma score of 4 or 5 (on a D&D 3-18.) Took me much too long to figure this out. As a wargamer, my besetting sin is that I revert to the history when I know I shouldn't--acting as though the distances were historical when the scenario has been bathtubbed, or using sound historical tactics when I should know the rules will not reward me for it. "No sober man dances, unless he happens to be insane." |

My eyes are always bigger than my stomach. I always think I can get more done than there is possibly time for. In gaming, at work, it doesn't matter. |

Painting straight lines, couldn't do it my life depended on it. That and remembering names. I recall faces, and people, but names….. I was hosting a game at Enfilade and called Chuck, Chester the whole time! Chuck thought it was funny and did not correct me until some time after. I've even walked up to Kevin S. and not remembered his name. Frig!!! |

Thomas, you are so funny. But, let's face it-we only see each other once a year. I have the same problem with my former students. In many cases, if they leave my classroom, so do their names. So they'll come to see me after years away and I recognize their adult faces, but their names are gone. Kevin |

Home repair! I've told my daughters they must marry contractors or carpenters who will fix Daddy's house. Another thing I don't do well is raise daughters who do what I tell them. |

I'm with Redbanner4145, and would add cars and other machines to the list of things I'm not good at repairing. My father always told me to stay in school and study hard so that I could land a good job that would pay me enough to call someone to fix things. I actually take my bicycles to the shop every year or so for a general tune-up and I haven't changed a bicycle tire in over 30 years. |
