Very nicely done! What rules you planning to use?

Nice Job.

Painting 1/72 myself Newlines metal stuff though. How did you find painting the HaT stuff easy? They have a lot interesting sets that would certainly be easy on my gaming budget by the quality of the sets seems rather variable ranging from nice through to a bit dodgy.

The HaT stuff paints up nicely and takes an ink wash well. I usually prep the figures with undiluted PVA to stiffen them up a bit, but the biggest PITA is getting the flash lines off. Some figures are better than others for this.

But you really can't beat the price, or range.

Thanks for the comments chaps.

D6: Rules; probably end up a jury-rig combination of 'Command and Colours' and 'One Hour Wargames' played over hex terrain. To be honest with myself, the gaming bit isn't the part I enjoy most, so rules have to be dead straightforward with absolutely no bookkeeping.

Prince Rupert: Painting them is straightforward enough though a limited pallette works best for me. Whatever your preferred method will likely be OK. However a coat of PVA over at least the weapons helps the durability. The Plastic Soldier Review site is the best place to look, gives a good idea of what your buying. HaT quality can vary enormously, the old ancient sets were in a decent hard plastic whereas the more recent sets are in a very rubbery soft plastic which personally I detest working with.

Martin: I gave up trying to de-flash Hat figures a long time ago, except for the really bad bits and extra lumps of plastic, once they are in a crowd and viewed at arm's length they're not so bad.

wrgmr1 – Cheers.
