Looking for suggestions for British public school boys with a Vickers HMG as appearing in Doctor Who episode Family of Blood:

Perhaps something from some of the variousVery British Civil War ranges?

Interesting question. I assume you mean 28mm, in which case the short answer is you may have to adapt.

Note in this picture from The Scattergun Gamer (respect, link ) the schoolboy with the Lewis gun differs from the other Woodbines Miniatures schoolboys by his tin helmet. Clever painting of the school uniform makes this work very well.

My suggestion is that you use the Footsore Miniatures Workers Militia machine gun, either with a head swap for a helmet or bare head, or paint his cap in the school colours as a school cap.

Further note, in the 1969 film "If" the anti-hero schoolboy (Malcolm McDowell) was seen out of uniform (quite literally!) in a leather jacket …with a Bren gun. Another possibility.

Obviously, if you are not looking to do this in 28mm then ignore all this.

EDIT ah yes, 28mm it is.

Siberian miniatures make a very nice Boy Scout machine gun unit but in the short pants. Some school boys were short pants. The shooting figure is in a metal helmet but I have found this company very flexible in offering different heads. They might have one with no hat.

Another option might be finding a 25 mm unit which would look like a younger group in 28mm. I did this for my boys brigade unit in VBCW.

These are frontier miniature Pershing's and poncho Villa Americans. So, where to find 25 mm machine gun shooters without helmets?

Every time I see VBCW stuff it makes me want to take the plunge, but I already have so many unfinished projects!
