A peaceful human and sentient robot society, but then … A group of rebel, fugitive or dissident outlaw robots who cannibalize and "terrorize" the general sentient robot population? Maybe humans* end up being hired to protect the general robot population from the evil mechanical predators, and to hunt them down? Just an idea for you guys to use or expand on, if you find it interesting at all. Dan * Perhaps because we humans can understand devious thinking and evil acts and put them into practice so well? :) |

I do recall some(plural) series, totally not remembering titles, of books of confederations of advanced galactic civs depending on humans because they ARE so darned single minded at deviousness. I can certainly imagine such mechanical races, who would NEVER violate their three laws, depending on ugly bags of water to clean up the messes. Doug Edit: Sorry, not exactly answering your question. Gad, this failing brain… |

For a look at a society getting towards Cacique's position, look at 'Freefall', an on-going web comic with robots, AI enhanced simians and wolves, oh, and various human types and the odd alien – a very odd alien. freefall.purrsia.com/default.htm |

Sounds like one of the concepts in a GURPS book called Reign of Steel but I may be misremembering. |

How about this for a twist then … A post apocalyptic scenario or one in which there are very limited raw materials and parts to maintain the existing robot population. The "ethical" robots wait for individuals among them to be irreparably damaged and "dead" before salvaging parts. But the rebel "unethicals" hunt down and attack the regular robots, while still fully functional, and tear them apart for whatever parts and materials they might need/want. Imagine them as "zombie" robots, if you will. Dan |

Or, worse, raid the few remaining part manufacturing shops. Then they can't even make use of limited raw materials. Doug |

Years ago when we were actually in our late teens, I believe, we had a game where we played robots in the Apocalypse. You upgraded your self by finding computer boards..lets say I was Firearm one in a skill yet found a board giving me Fire Arms two. The fun part is you had to trust another Player robot and turn your self off for them to take out the old board and put in the new one. You were defenseless and we stole each others boards all the time yelling "Boards,Boards, boards!! while the other players back panel was open and he was shut off..It was pretty funny and good fun… |
