"NIGHTFLYERS has the story set in the future on the eve of Earth's destruction. In the hope of making contact with alien life, eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard the Nightflyer, a ship with a small, tight-knit crew and a reclusive captain. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place, they start to question one another — and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought" "NIGHTFLYERS is based on a super natural novella by George R.R.Martin"

^^That'd be back when Joss was still playing TRAVELLER at college (which is why Firefly seems soooo much like a traveller rpg party). I read this book back in 1986 or so, a year or so before the movie came out. GRRM was a guest at a small SF con here in Sydney in 1988, and I got him to autograph it. I think this was loooong before ASOIAF was a thing, too |

Is it (the book) any good? The movie was pretty typical B-Movie sci-fi/slasher dreck. |

It's an exception to (my) rule of "once read, always remembered". I honestly can't recall much about it. I do recall reading it, and then seeing the movie, but apart from Catherine Mary Stewart being in it, I don't recall much else. |
