Okay, we're used to films, TV programmes etc, making use of cultural references, often in obsessively children's entertainment to give the adults something to laugh at, but I've just watched a pre-school kids cartoon called Hey Duggee referencing Apocalypse Now! link
It was the River Badge episode.

The only problem with cultural references today is that there are so many inputs, it's hard to have a single culture. Ok, it's probably always been difficult, but I think it's getting harder. Example:Beevus: "Did you catch the new show on Netflix?"
His friend: "I don't have Netflix, but there's a great sci-fi show on Hulu."
Beevus: "Oh, I don't have Hulu. But hey, Youtube's got some parkour videos."
 His friend: "Par-what now?"

Hmmmm….Maybe you're thinking of Peter Parkour as the host of a show about an urban youth who acrobats all over a city? | |
