at the end of the link for Part 2 .. change it to part 1 like this: Dennewitz__Part1.pdf Worked fine and thanks so much for posting this. I was the Scenario Designer for the John Tiller Software computer game "Campaign Leipzig" and I used George Nafziger's book and other sources for the battle scenarios. Wish I had had access to this too! |

It IS a great find, but I while I can find various downloadables on the site, I cannot find the "Docs" section, since the Dennewitz articles were not listed anywhere I could find them, other than the link Tango found. Unless I missed something, some help would be nice. |

I put together a Dennewitz scenario last year, battalion level Shako 2 rules. The French literally ran over the Prussians. The scenario needs tweaking of course, in particular not allowing Oudinot to actually enter the table. If he does even with a small number of units, the French have overwhelming numbers. I will be a good game to try again. |

Thanks Marc, I went Nutz looking for it, but the Dennewitz article was not located in any of the main listings, so I figured if I could find the docs section, ALL would be there, listed or otherwise! It IS a great site! |

To: wrgmr1 – its not the Oudinot does not enter the board but he enters so late! The IV and VII corps had suffered many casualties by then – the Prussians were still going strong. The loss at Grossbeeren had sapped the heart out of many of the battalions of Ney's corps. While the Russians and Swedes did not arrive in large numbers there are enough accounts that say that there were four to five Swedish cavalry regiments present along with 1 horse battery. Another source lists some Russian Jagers and a couple of Russian cavalry regiments present as well. It all depends on how late you want to fight the battle. The later you fight the more Allies would have arrived. The less turns you cover the less Oudinot plays a large part. |

HappyHussar, Thanks for your input. The basic OOB has the French with 67 battalions of Infantry at the beginning of the battle and the Prussians 32. Cavalry; French 8 regiments, Prussians 17. This includes Swedish and Prussian Cavalry arriving at 4 PM game time. I downgraded a number of French Battalions to Militia status and upgraded the Prussian Landwehr to melee as line but still only take 3 hits as opposed to 4 for line. Maybe the French just had better die rolling, as I was only participating in one part of the battle. But it was pretty much a steam roller. Oudinot had only 2 turns on the table when the Prussians declared defeat. If you have any suggestions as to balancing the scenario please feel free to suggest. |
