Has anyone out there played both this game and "Aces and Eights" which is kickstarting a second edition? I own A&E but never played it, just too much of a mountain to climb. So, I've been restricting my Western activities to miniature skirmish games (Fistful of Lead is pretty awesome). |

I had A&E, found it needlessly complex for what I wanted to do. Honestly for a western RPG the GM needs to seriously consider what he wants out of the game. The genre can be difficult to get past the gunfight a week, and if that is all one is doing use your preferred skirmish game and just ad lib the role playing and bolt in a skill system that mimics the combat. D20 and Savage Worlds are good examples of the combat and skill system sharing a core mechanic. If one is looking for something else, identify a game system that does that. I played in a short lived Pinkerton themed game using Spycraft for example. |
