Cute! Possibly worth noting that even without Scots and Welsh elements, there are real-life regional variations. Even in the wilds of Indiana by know that "by" endings belong in the Danelaw, "puddle" and variants in the West Country, and Brill and Chetwood contain British and English elements.

As for sex and place names, somewhere in Pennsylvania there is a helpful sign locating two small towns. It informs the traveler that "The way to Paradise is through Intercourse." People keep stealing the sign.

Not far from me is the village of "Mogador" whose sign is often altered to "Mogadon". I wonder if this is where the term "sleepy little village" comes from?

Neat!

Our favourite made up English village is the sleepy little town of Dogpoop on Wessex

There used to be a sign many years ago near here which said 'To Old Bolingbroke and Mavis Enderby' underneath which some wag wrote 'the gift of a son'.

Wellow, just outside Salisbury, had its sign changed to "Oooo Wellow!"

We also had Partney altered to Fartney with a careful squirt of spraypaint.
