I find it frustrating that you cannot split a squad, gruppe, bande, etc when occupying a 2 story building. You can't send the MG34 upstairs to set up in a window, and keep your landsers downstairs to cover the first floor. Anyone else have heartburn over this?

No

No. Just do it. Why not? They are your figures & your game to play. It makes complete sense. I would say when being fired at, you should have to say "OK, I'm firing at the 2nd story guys or the 1st story guys". IF you were to kill all in one story, I would think any additional kills should be applied to the guys on the other floor tho. Pretty much as per the rules. We are taking a WW1 BA game to H-Con, and in the trenches, if you make it to them, it's kinda the same thing. IF you can see a guy you can shoot , but just because you see one fig does not mean you see the entire unit. And that everyone in the your unit can fire. You have to use some common sense when called for, while gaming!

I don't care what the rules say, if they make no sense, play your way.

We've found you can make all sorts of changes to Bolt Action to suit scenarios without undermining the basic premise of the rules; it's a very sturdy system. In fact, we use it for all sorts of things with very little adaptation; we use it all the time for Vietnam and for WW2 company in attack/platoon in defence games with just a few tweaks and a bit of common sense.

As long as the opposite opponent knows at the beginning of the game why would it matter? As long as it is something that they can allow for with their tactics instead of feel like your trying to put one over on them.

Absolutely.

Sounds like a fix then, the tourney folks are twitchin' about it tho. But that's why I don't play tourneys.
