I am currently reading this book (by Joshua Hammer, 2016) and not only is it good, but inspiring me to come up with a few pulpy scenarios. Trying to smuggle rare, ancient manuscripts past religious fanatics is the most obvious. So what I need next is a mud pyramid mosque. It shouldn't be too difficult to make, but has anyone done this already?

Looks like a scene out of the Tales of the Gold Monkey series.

Not a pyramid, but a bit of ruined adobe. I painted it, dipped it in sand, painted over it, dipped it in sand again, painted it again, then dry brushed it.

Sounds easy enough. I'll probably have to make a few adobe houses to go with it.

Its an awesome story, locals with a lot to lose saving their heritage.

I would go for a child's sand castle bucket. They come in a variety of "ziggurat" shapes. Use it as a mold to make more or just spray paint it with suitable texture paint. Build an inside with removable waffer layers and you can play the inside too. Having more than one to explore might add to the "did we enter the right structure" drama. Good luck.

I scored a bunch of cheap aquarium Aztec pyramid temples a few years ago with the intent of turning one of them into an African-esque pyramid building (wasn't thinking of a mosque) with the addition of the pointy sticks and a lot of stucco before the sandy paint job. The original aquarium pieces were more like 10mm scale, but you might be able to find something bigger.

I think JR Miniatures also had an African mosque in their 10 or 15mm line, but as I recall it was a more traditional domed building, without minarets though. I think near the bottom of this thread there's an image of it: link
- looks like Hovels might have something too.

Are al the Librarians going to be Orangutans? Ook?

Whemever121 Jun 2017 12:05 p.m. PST

There is only one orangutan librarian, so far as I know, but at least he was able to intimidate trolls.
