Old hat.

I wrote a 16 page, full color, profusely illustrated booklet on War Games called "All About War Games." I printed up about 2000 copies. This was folio sized and written "en Omage" to Jack Scruby, Who in 1962 wrote a simply mimeographed 8 page booklet to send out to his customers w3ith his miniatures or who asked questions about the hobby. The booklet I wrote would be completely boring to any one except those who hadn't heard of it less than 15 minutes ago. It was an overstory, dealt with issues of scale, what they were, where they came from and talked about things like individual games or base games, and gave a simple rule set for playing with toy soldiers in the Ancient World, Musket Period, and Modern Priod and Naval. I wrote this when I was in a club and we distributed it for the Club's Open House. That was almost 20 years ago and I have given it out in dozens free of charge at my convention games, and to schools who asked me about it, teachers, people who came to our "Weekend" and to many dealers at HMGS conventions who asked for it. Also did it at malls when we held demonstration games there. The object was to allow the kiddies to take something home with bright happy pictures and a seed of interest. It had references, names, numbers of dealers, where to get toy soldiers, other rules, other gaming and so forth. Now we are down to our last 100 copies and I'm doing a re-write to upgrade it. I tried to interest HMGS in it, but they at the time were uninterested in it. I offered to give them the booklet gratis. I also made the booklet so that you could easily change the back page for an ad or promo for your own war game club, and even help in the design, just give us the information. We tried to interest clubs in this at CLUBCON which was part of Cold Wars 2004, but there was no interest.

As I said it would be boring to anyone who hadn't heard of war games till 15 minutes ago.
