Sven Olson, he played Lincoln for several years with out anybody guessing he was really a Swedish man who had taken Lincolns place right after after he was first elected because Lincoln won the Spanish national lottery and moved to the Cannery Island living in luxury. Or you know the guy that in Lincoln vampire hunter. |

Hard to say, he was given such a shoddy script to work from. (I'm a fan of Bill and Ted mind you) |

Raymond Massey although Lewis' work is always top-rate. |

Just went and refreshed my memory on You Tube, regarding Mr Massey. No contest. Day-Lewis acts the legs off him. Voice characterisation, mannerisms, the believable way he slips into folksy tales – the whole package. Never met Lincoln myself, even though the guys at the club treat me as if I'm old enough but Day – Lewis is an obsessive. You can see the hours of research in every scene. This is the guy who carried a Kentucky Rifle around for weeks before his part in Last of the Mohicans just so he would look comfortable with the weight. That said, Massey was also famous for his research before playing Lincoln, so credit where its due. Maybe he was just out obsessed? :o) |

Daniel Day Lewis, no contest. Though I did like Sam Waterson's vocal characterizations in The Civil War, but I'm a Waterson person |

I second what Murphy said… Fritz Klein performs the absolutely best Lincoln impression. Well-known among the reenacting community, he makes a living depicting Lincoln, including motivational speeches for corporate and civic groups. He has spent years working on the physical appearance, historical accuracy and mannerisms. lincolninstitute.com |
