now I do pretend to be semi-informed on the AWI period but the Spanish have eluded me and my studies for some time. I would like to do up some scenarios in 28mm involving them and am having a hard time finding options. The Warlord Hessian box set seems to be a pretty close fit to their uniform. Tall gaiters, the correct hat(ignoring grenadier option) cut is the right on the coats. Might not need the sword belt but I have seen pictures with them having one. Am I crazy or with a little cleaning up would these work? I understand they will not be perfect but I am looking for a cheaper option. |

Why not get the "real" thing from Dayton Painting Consortium? dpcltdcom.org/rsm95_010.htm I have a bunch of them and they fit, size-wise, nicely with many of the other ranges. link [Just note that these were originally made by the London Warroom but the molds were acquired by DPC after Vince went out of business.] link [Figure comparisons] Jim |

Those are SYW figures, but what the heck. I have a bunch I bought to use as Swiss at Louisbourg in the FIW …. I'll just re paint them. White coats with blue facings look rad. If I want more, I also have a bunch of unpainted Old Glory AWI French, with the more "modern" uniform. Finally, there are Historifigs with authentic Spanish AWI figures. If my two proxies don't give me enough for a small project, I'll go there. There's a lot of new information coming out on Spanish troops in the AWI. Firvacsampke check the archives on TMP. |

How about free online flags? I note you use Warflag, (Napoleonic Spanish?) but I have always been annoyed by the whimsy in some of the AWI flags. |

I've been wanting the same thing thanks to the fine new "Attack on Cahokia" book by Mr. Kling Jr.. (Book is phenomenal by the way!) Would love to see where you go here, and maybe I can follow in your footsteps. I would love to see the Perry's tackle the subject sometime. (Naysayers feel free to jump in here and tell me that it will never happen.) Maybe if they get ahold of that book they will feel inspired too! |
