…finally arrived this morning 4 months after ordering.

Was expecting a huge parcel as was expecting a mouse-mat style thick piece of material 4ft wide and rolled up.

But it arrived in a box about 12" by 8" by 3".

The whole thing folds up quite small. It's fairly thin and not mouse-mattish at all.

The desert side looks quite good – desert-ish with bits of dark to break it up a bit.

The grass side has a mottled effect to break up the green using bits of brown. The green is quite light, a bit lighter shade than I was expecting.

It smells a bit but the smell seems to be disippating.

Size is actually 70" by 47", so not quite the 72" by 48" it says on the box.

Do I like it?
Yeah, seems ok. Not an amazing Wow factor but it'll do.

That sounds like a total Fail to me.

The revised edition of the mat will be released next month.

Sounds good to me! Many of the commercial mats will have the disclaimer of size variance of an inch or two. Leave it out in a well ventilated area to let it air out all of the smelly stuff.

BattlerBritain09 Jun 2017 9:51 a.m. PST

What are they revising on it?

I'm pleased with it in that it folds up pretty small.

If the grass green had been a little bit darker I'd be really pleased.

I think in future I'll wait until I actually see one to decide.

It's aesthetic more than anything.

The size issue makes it a fail for me.

Schogun09 Jun 2017 2:28 p.m. PST

Hopefully they'll correct the size and make the green side darker (although it's probably the usual gamer green flock color).

I like that it's thinner than typical mouse mats.

Really? Too large is fine, too small is a complete fail

Hannibus09 Jun 2017 9:34 p.m. PST

I would be very upset if I was promised a 6ft mat and given something less than that.

Not a fan of this new BF

Pictures?

BattlerBritain09 Jun 2017 11:57 p.m. PST

Yeah I gotta work out where to post them and link etc.

Gimme a mo…..

I bet they have used the size of a typical metric gaming table in New Zealand which is 180cm x 90cm…our version of 6x4. I find it quite cheap that they wouldn't just make them slightly bigger to make sure they players all over the world are happy.

OK some piccies. Let's see if these links work…

@BattlerBritain -- can we see an edge shot to see how think it is? Were there instructions about how to remove the folds/creases? Do the creases leave line marks?

Thanks

Schogun11 Jun 2017 7:49 a.m. PST

er, thick, not think.

BattlerBritain11 Jun 2017 8:32 a.m. PST

The material isn't that thick, so trying to get a picture of the thickness of it would be quite hard.

It does fold quite easily.

Not sure about getting the creases out. Haven't tried that yet.

Schogun11 Jun 2017 4:48 p.m. PST

Ah, I can see the edge of the desert side in your photo. It's really quite thin!

Col Piron12 Jun 2017 3:55 a.m. PST

£70.00 GBP for that ! huh?

BattlerBritain14 Jun 2017 5:08 a.m. PST

Yes I think I'm going to have to return mine.

There are bulges in the centre that won't go away.

It means the mat won't lie flat.

I'd love to be able to iron it but I don't think the rubber could handle it.

It also stinks to high heaven!

Even though I've left it outside during the day the smell hasn't gone away. Trying to use it indoors and the room just stinks.

So I think it's gotta go back :(

thanks for the pics. Definitely no go for me, not to mention the smell.
