The old Bayonetstrength website used to have details on this, but you'll struggle to find it nowadays.

I believe Carrier patrols were arranged into four sections of three carriers each. Each carrier would have had a Bren, one carrier in each section would have carried a PIAT, and one a 2" mortar.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

EDIT: Just found this:

That's right for Inf Bn carriers, but are you looking for Recce Regt info? Also which period/theatre?

Thanks both of you,

Did the carrier sections in the Recce regiments go to 4 men pr. carrier at any point?

Starfury Rider09 Jun 2017 11:40 a.m. PST

No, that WE remained in use until the war's end.

Light recce car = jeep?

And armoured car = Daimler or Humber scout car?

uglyfatbloke10 Jun 2017 9:15 a.m. PST

I think light recce car could be a White in some units

Starfury Rider10 Jun 2017 10:08 a.m. PST

LRC was the Humber III, Armd car was the Humber IV in 21AG, with Daimler cars largely replacing the Humber IV during the course of the campaign. White scout cars could be found in the Squadron's Assault Troop, which was effectively a larger version of the Motor Platoon.
