Hi all – I have not had any luck with my Google-fu on this one. I have just received a bunch of Polish flags, but those for the 10th and 11th are VERY long – more than twice the width of the others. Chatting to the flag maker he said this is accurate, but I cannot find anything to say one way or the other. It is not a problem, as he is a great guy, so this is all in the name of information. But if anybody has any plates or info I would appreciate it please. Thanks Marc |

Which flags are you referring to? Are they Vistula Legion or Grand Duchy of Warsaw? |

Sorry – DoW. I didn't actually know that the Vistuale Legion went up to the 10th and 11th regiments – I really must do some more research Marc |

10th and 11th were Grand Duchy infantry regiments, not Vistula Legion. But there was also a 10th Hussar Regiment – "Golden Hussars" and an 11th Uhlan Regiment. If the flags are long and have a forked tail, they are probably Cavalry pennants. This site has a lot of info, but not much on the flags: link |

The cavalry did not use pennants with tails ( IE french dragoon style). They were smaller versions of the infantry. The infantry regiments 10th and 11th : Both had just the 53cm long white ribbon with fringe at the end that was tied just underneath the silver Polish eagles. They were not caring flags in 1812 campaign per "Hekkel Kasan 1909 Russian artifacts". Hope this helps MG |
