Here's a short video featuring the land battle games played during the last Saturday period:

Thanks, Ted! Wonderful movie, too bad you weren't there for all of the weekend. Lloyd

A second to Lloyd's comments Ted. Always love your video projects. You even managed to squeeze our game in at the end.

Curious – and I realize this was only part of the convention – the Pacific northwest is a mecca of spectacular model railroad scenery but what is shown here isn't in that league, or even close. Apparently there isn't much cross-pollination between the two hobbies in the area.

Hopefully, the terrain got better on the following days.

And, of course, ultimately, the game is the thing.

It's a spectrum really, some people prioritise playability over aesthetics. For US conventions the format encourages what we would see as 'club-level' games. For UK conventions the 'demo' games often have superb terrain, much more akin to what model railroaders do. Partizan, for example, specialises in the most aesthetic type games :-) Each to their own!

As an aside I've noticed railroaders are often brilliant at terrain, and weathering the locos and rolling stock, but usually not very good at figurines!…
