Thinking of doing LOTR staring with the Fellowship of the Ring in 15/18mm.

I think the best figs for this are from Khurasan Miniatures in their Tom Meier line for 7 of the Fellowship. Still new 2 more Hobbits.

Eureka seem to be the way to go for Uruk Hai and maybe Rebel for their goblins.

Any other thoughts? Best dwarves etc..

I am a big fan of Battle Valor Miniatures. It depends of your angle on how LOTR should look, but check their offerings. You could use Rangers for sure and check their Orcs, Dwarves and Norsemen. I don't own any Elves but they also fit. The figures are bit chunkier than Rebel Miniatures Fantasy and dark Age but I will place them together, no problem.

Splintered Light has some good figures, including dwarves, both under their fantasy line and the Dungeon Crawl/RPG line.

For the Hobbit, there's a Dwarven adventuring party.

Best Goblins, Orcs, Urukhai in 15mm? Thoughts?

For that classic Tolkien look, Khurasan. Other looks, pretty much anyone else.

Tolkien is different things to different people. You have a very wide range of figures to choose from in 15mm.

SLM Goblins are quite nice.
Battle Valor Games have a very nice range of Goblins including Wargs and riders similar to thos in the LotR movies.
The old Ral Partha Battle System range are quite nice…if you can find them.

Yep I will use Khurasan for orcs as well as Eureka for Uruk Hai. He'll why not use BVG as well as SLM mixed together. Orcs cone I all makes and sizes lol

I agree about Erueka for Uruk Hai. They are very close to the movie Uruk Hai.

I love the Splintered Light dwarves. I think they are perfect for LOTR.

Battle Valor have good dwarves too, but they are a little more like Warhammer dwarves.

For elves I love the Demonworld ones.

Khurasan are perfect for orcs, and their great orcs make good Uruks if you want a different look than the movies.

I have two Hobbits in 15mm from Essex.
One is a fellow with a blue glowing sword and the other is a stout fellow with a backpack waving a saucepan.
I can't remember which pack they were from but could be this one.

If I knew how to upload photos I'd share a pic of mine.

I love Splintered Lights – don't forget their "20mm ogres", which look like they are directly inspired from a Angus McBride drawing.

And try to look at the old Grenadier 15mm Orcs, they are, for instance sold by Mirliton in Italy but also have sellers in the UK. They are done by Julie Guthrie if I remember correctly and very much in keeping with how I imagined Tolkien's orcs.
