The current occupant of a secluded home on one of Spain's Canary Islands is determined to find out whether it was once used by the Nazis as a secret U-boat base…

Somehow I doubt it. Wouldn't you need to have fuel, torpedoes and other supplies shipped there for it to function as a "base"?

I've heard such rumors. And on that History Channel series, Hunting Hitler. They showed what looked like places that could be used for such. Including huge heavy bunkers for supplies, etc. Talked to local historians, etc. who pretty much verified that and more, etc.

However, who knows ? Anyone who really may know for sure are dead by now, etc., most likely. Any anyone can say anything, at any time for whatever reasons. In the media, and elsewhere …

Have you seen where this place is? It's halfway up a mountain for goodness sake. But otherwise perfectly positioned for resupplying U-boats. Plus Nazis get a mention so it must be true.

I'd have to think the Allies would have kept a close watch on the Canaries for that very reason. It's not like the islands were a secret.

Not Nazi U-boats, but Nazi flying saucers made with technology they got from the aliens. The History Channel says they had it, so it must be true.

It is a beach house so he could have supplied fresh veggies via boat. The article suggests he was regarded as a supplier of information at the very least.

I never said that. Don't read into that. I said, Any anyone can say anything, at any time for whatever reasons. In the media, and elsewhere … So everything that was said in those shows could be completely untrue. And probably is.

I only saw what was shown on the show. There were many reasons for this rumor to be completely untrue. And it very much probably is. Never said it was a "fact". However, I found the series interesting …

I saw that too on the H/Chan. Again as entertaining as those shows were. They should be on SyFy.

@ Legion – My comment was not directed at you. Not everything is about you or what you write.

@ Shagnasty – It is NOT a beach house. It IS halfway up a mountain. You can see where it is on Google maps/Earth.

Hmm. If having a high tower with a view of the sea is characteristic of U-boat bases, I can find you a few in Cape May New Jersey--some about the same vintage, too. Not quite sure how the thick walls would help, either.

Now, if someone argues that a German national living by the sea sometimes sold fresh provisions to U-boats, well, I wouldn't exactly be shocked, but I'd like to see evidence.

Anyone else remember evidence? Supporting indicators? Facts to lead to your conclusion? You used to see them every now and then before the Internet and 24 hour news channels. More victims of the modern great mass extinction.

It isn't ?!?!? huh? You saying "Have you seen where this place is? ", right after my post, made me think I was being addressed directly … Who knew !? huh?

I guess I'm a bit paranoid and use to frequently being on the receiving end of "negative" posts … frown For anything I say, or think, etc. … frown < hangs head in shame > frown Mea Culpa !

When in Cape May, NJ in my distant youth. old fart I remember seeming an ASW bunker on the coast and crawling around it. Even could see the remains of a baseball field behind it they used for R&R. But … nope … no U-boats …

Presuming that there would have actually been a secret U-boat station in the Canary Islands, how much gaming potential does it have?

Had the Brits found out about it, could it have become a target for a covert raid by Royal Marine Commando?

Could make an interesting scenario for a game, I'd think.
