A Good-Looking Army in a Reasonable Amount of Time

Painting a wargaming army is a completely different beast from painting a single miniature for display.

There's a great little show on near Leuven in Belgium this weekend:

Just came back from it, and want to give the Wargaming Monkeys a big thumbs-up for their first convention! A decent mix of traders, including some from the UK, some nicely laid-out club games, a brimming bring-and-buy and catering at very reasonable prices – what more could one ask for ?

If you're in Belgium, the southern Netherlands or the western reaches of Germany, be sure to go tomorrow. I'm already looking forward to next year's edition !

I completely agree with you Musketier.

An excellent location, plenty of free parking, bright spacious and airy hall with lots of room to move about.

I too hope there will be another such show next year but I think they could do some more advertising to attract more visitors.

Well done the Wargaming Monkeys!

A third thumbs up – back home for a couple of hours already on the Luxembourg border. I cannot speak too highly of the show.. how easy it is to get to, great organization, friendly people, things I have never seen before (the most incredible 10mm figures anyone has ever sculpted from Van Dyck- great ready painted buildings by More Terrain.. including some great painted scatter items such as barrels etc. beautifully painted at 1 EUR each – some unbelievable mechanical wooden models of trains, trams etc from Ukraine sold by Wendy's Models from the Netherlands along with their great selection of military figures in various sizes, and several retailers such as Dax Magic with more choice of paints and tools etc than you can look at in an afternoon.. (there were several stands with great selections of paints – many with special show deals or discounts) and of course Dave Thomas and his racks upon racks of Perry figures which there was actually enough room to have a good look at. The coffee was great as well! Not only did I have a great day out but so too did my wife. We have been saying all the way back how much we hope that your efforts will be rewarded and that this can become a regular show with this wonderful select mix of traders – (and my apologies to those I did not name specifically)and all the rest. We would certainly become regulars if you can keep up this fantastic balance.

You will find more information here

Just one note of caution – if you are planning to go tomorrow some of the traders were only attending today – so check what you are looking for not to be disappointed.

Right.. I am going back to pore over the loot!

Hi Chokidar, we must have crossed paths there without knowing. Next time we should wear a carnation, or something…

Must add my thumb to the above comments.
T'was indeed a great little show. Bought some toys from Dave T and some bits and pieces from Dax Magic.
Well done the Monkeys! Looking forward to next year (perhaps not the Whitsun weekend though…)
