If anyone is a true atheist after studying this naval battle, I would be amazed. Celebrating tomorrow at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, PA. Looking forward to seeing their Grumman Avenger. GdeP |

I go back and read the chapter in War and Remembrance where Wouk lists the names of all the pilots who were shot down in the initial torpedo attacks. It gives names to those men. Morrison did it too in his book on Midway. |

They are also listed in _The First Team_, published years ago by NIP. It is a recounting of the 6 months of Naval Aviation history between the attack on Pearl Harbor and Midway, including both actions, Coral Sea and a couple of the diversionary strikes. |

Bless them for their courage and may they not be forgotten. Morison and Wouk were so right. |

Don't forget the pilots of the bombers and torpedo planes from Midway who did their job keeping the Japanese fighters and carriers pinned down before the carrier planes arrived. |

I should go back and read "Shattered Sword" again. By far the best book on the battle. |

indeed, it is an excellent book that slays many of the myths that surround this fascinating battle. Looking forward to reading about the various refight that are going on this weekend – ours had to be put back a week due to key participants being involved in serious stuff yesterday and today. |

I'm still an atheist, but I wholeheartedly support describing the American victory as a miracle. :-) - Ix |

Pacific Payback: The Carrier Aviators Who Avenged Pearl Harbor at the Battle of Midway by Stephen L. Moore lists every pilot and crewman of every mission for all three days. Which ship they took off from and which ship they recovered to, it got a little mixed up after a while but he followed it. Mark T. |
