I was looking at the Chaos Space Marine forces because of the new edition bringing new Chaos Armies, and I thought, " Are there any Loyal Chaos Space Marine Successor Chapters?" So, are there? EDIT: I mean, any traitorous Space Marine chapters whose successor Chapters stayed Loyal and fought against their Brothers |

Successor chapters came about because of the Codex Astartes breaking up the legions. Only loyalist legions were broken up in this way. The traitor legions mostly went over to Chaos to greater or lesser degrees. They never broke up in Chapters, although many degenerated into warbands and only a few retained any kind of coherency. Are you asking if any of the Loyalist legions broke up into chapters and then some of those chapters broke up because they got too large and one of the successor chapters there stayed loyal while the parent chapter turned their coat? |

I think what he means is, could you field a chapter that was founded from members of the Death Guard or World Eaters who had remained loyal to the emperor, and if there are any existing in the fluff? |

I mean what Eclipsing Bunnies said. |

Glad I understood, sorry I don't have the answer. Maybe Shattered Legions (Horus Heresy novel 43) will shed some light? |

The answer is no because Chaos legions never existed as 1,000-man chapters in the first place. Legions (hundreds of thousands strong during the Great Crusade) were reorganized and broken down into smaller chapters according to the precepts of Roboute Guilliman only after the Horus Heresy to ensure that they are not individually strong enough to pose a threat again. The Blood Angels, for example, were broken down into 26 chapters, among them the Flesh Tearers, Blood Drinkers and Lamentors. The remnants of the traitor legions were banished into the Eye of Terror and operate as roving warbands of varying strengths. Every so often a charismatic warmaster like Abaddon would unite the various warbands for a black crusade against the Imperium, much like a powerful Ork warboss like Ghazkull Mag Uruk Thracka would unite otherwise factionalized warbands for a massive Waaagh. |

"I think what he means is, could you field a chapter that was founded from members of the Death Guard or World Eaters who had remained loyal to the emperor, and if there are any existing in the fluff?" Absolutely. They are called "Blackshields". They defaced/painted over their old chapter insignia and replaced it with their own devices/insignia.Most of them painted their armor black, hence "Blackshields". There are decals on Forworld's website if you wish to check out some of the insignia. They weren't chapters persay, more like roving bands of loyal marines who were made from those that survived the attempted purging by their traitor brothers. They could easily be a mix of World Eaters, Emperor's Children, Death Guard, and Iron Warriors for example. |

Also remember, once word of the treachery of the traitor legions spread, to be seen in armor of one of those legions, whether you were still loyal to the Emperor or not was an instant death sentence. |

As a bit of an aside, there are loyal chapters that "turned Chaos" by virtue of being misled and on the wrong side then loyal again, like the Lamentors for instance after the Badab war. However, it has to go on a "Penitent crusade" to redeem itself. |

You can field them all the time in 30K. That is what my World Eater force is, a loyalist World Eater Chapter. The army itself is designed to split in half and fight itself so I have traitor-only units, but it is mostly designed around a loyal captain and stayed away from Angron as much as possible and kept as many of his men as he could from psycho surgery. |

The blood ravens are clearly 1,000 sons by a different name. |
